ship-wreck-morotai by RoyJava There is almost no tourism in this area of beautiful, white sandy beaches, excellent coral and clear water. The life remained unchanged though the Second World War had struck it. Some expeditions write about Morotai Island as a tourism destination for families of the former Japanese troop and the Allied Forces. But these tourists are of sporadical event to the communities of Morotai ... There are coming even more tourists to see the "war-wrecks" (thousands and thousands spread over the island) and to enjoy a dive to sunken aircrafts in the Morotai seabed. At pic you see the rusty sea-wreck of a Japanese carg-boat where trees are growing out of the hold in front of the village of Daruba, the main port of Morotai Island. map-morotai by RoyJava The largest cities are all on the beach and include: Daruba, Dahegila (South), Wayabula (South-West), Sangowo (South-East), Busubusu and Wewemo (East) and Berebere (up North). Daruba is the main port of Pulau Morotai and, once served as a temporary headquarters for Mc. Arthur during the Pacific Campaign. Daruba's harbour is full of old wrecks from heavy fighting during the Second World War. You could see several remaingin buildings, such as the house of a Nippon Commander. cardmollucas by RoyJava The palm-island Morotai (c.695 sq mi/1,800 sq km) is located in East-Indonesia, and should be one of the Moluccas. Although preferred the Northern Halmahere Island ... It is heavily wooded, it produces timber and resin. Morotai has 2 main towns: Bere Bere and Daruba. Morotai Island was well-known as important airbase during the World War II where you may find many aircraft-wrecks and guns lie all over abandoned in bushes, site of the famous sea gardens with their bright coral and colourful fish darting through the crystal clear water... so always for a good dive ... thanks for visiting. palms-at-penang by RoyJava You love palm-trees? Enjoying their shade think of next : >>> When places are warm with a lot of sunshine you'll be sure to find palm trees. Some grow in coastal regions, often close to the water. They are found in the Far East as well the Close West, USA, and some live in the desert near oases. Palm trees look like tall, naked models or dance-girls with long trunks (heehee), and close to its top you'll find its leaves, like very big feathers. It produces a fruit named "coconut", hollow and beautiful green turning brown when older and spherical in shape. Right in the fruit there are its seeds ... So, now that you know a little about the palm tree, how do you think that this tree disperses its seeds? By animal, by wind, by water? Yep, ... by water ... flowing over the waves of the ocean, the current of the water, the palm tree seeds travel for longer distance you ever can imagine. Too heavy for the wind and too large to be carried by birds and other animals. When pushed up onto the shore the coconut will burst to ground its seeds. When floating at sea the salt water will spoil the seed after a week or two ... See another beautiful palmtree-island >>> Palms At Penang Leave a Comment
