It also allows short tours left to mountain area - so to Simalima Museum, Batu Chapeo, to Gunung Nona, and over the hills to Pinto Kota and last but not least to sandy Santai Beach at the south west coast, at the deep blue Banda sea,and a diving station near Latuhalat.Take a little bus or better a rented car with driver- so it will allow to make stops for some good photos or simply for to sit and enjoy the view over the bay or the coast. This is a historic fortress erected by the Portuguese in the XVI century from where you will enjoy excellent views of the island.At the beginning of the XVII century the Dutch conquered the place, removed the Portuguese, destroyed part of the fortress, made some reforms, and called it Victoria.It is located in Soya Ata, Ambon Baguala, at about 15 kilometres from Ambon (also known as Amboina) and in the last metres you have to walk up until the top.Besides the fortress there is a school in which walls you can notice a bust of Saint Francisco Javier, the Spanish Jesuit who evangelized Japan and the Far East (his tomb is in Goa, India).
