Dream Beach

Favorite thing: Another, white sandy beach
on Nusa Lembongan
is Dream Beach.

Don’t get confused by
Dreamland Beach on Bali though.
They’re different beaches.

There is no direct boat transportation
from Bali to this beach,
so you need to get a motorbike
or some means of transportation to get here.

There is a restaurant here,
and it is the source of entrance to the beach.

At high tide,
the current may be a
bit too strong for small children.

But the beach is beautiful
and you can watch the sunset
from the upper floor of the restaurant.

Favorite thing: One of the nicer beaches
on Nusa Lembongan
is Mushroom Beach.

There are 2 Mushroom Beaches to say,
and even though they are
one next to the other,
there is a difference.

There is the more isolated one,
with its casual visitors,
and the more populated one
with some upscale hotels.

There is transportation from Bali,
directly to this beach,
but you need to be sure
by asking that it will drop you off here.

This beach provides you with
post card white, sandy beaches.

There is some coral,
which is sharper than
the coral that you find in Bali.
So make sure you bring the rubber shoes
if you plan to do some walking at low tide.

But swimming is possible at this beach.

LEGEND OF NUSA LEMBONGAN

Favorite thing: In the year 1200, lived an old man called Dukuh Jumpungan, he was from mount Kila (considered to be in the Klungkung Regency). This aged man owned a boat that had a magical power.

Legend has it that whenever he sailed with his boat, everything he encountered and struck with his boat would become an ocean.

One day, Dukuh Jumpungan heard that there was a very sacred mountain called Mount Tohlangkir. Dukuh Jumpungan was challenged by himself to prove the magical power of this boat by hitting the sacred mount Tohlangkir. He wished he could make Mount Tohlangkir disappear and became an ocean.

He sailed in a southeast direction from Padang Bay, and purposely ran his boat into mount Tohlangkir. A very dreadful collision occurred and unfortunately the boat rebounded shakily, and finally sank.

An island appeared in the area where the boat rebounded shakily and is now called Nusa Ceningan, the place where his boat sank became an island and is now called Nusa Lembongan.

Favorite thing: Upon disembarking
the Perama shuttle boat,
you are dropped off
on the middle of Jungutbatu beach,
where most of the
budget accommodations are located.

If you have luggage
that you are hauling around,
finding a nice, budget place
can be a bit discouraging
in the middle of the heat.

Since I was already aware
of some of the inconveniences of looking
for a place before I had arrived,
I managed to leave my LOCKED suitcase with someone at the Tourist Office
(ask for Dany)
and hire someone to drive me around
to find that perfect place.

Bear in mind
that I was planning to stay for 10 days.

So as we rode around visiting the places
that I had read about either in travel guides
or on the internet,
I found out that most of the low
and mid-budget places to stay
have a sink in the room
and a shower hose located next to the toilet.

Definitely not those clean,
dream places that you find
on the main island, Bali.

Finally, when close to my last option,
I found on the way to Coconut Beach Resort a clean place
called Putu's Bed and Breakfast.

Phew!
Finally I found a place.
