Bring these drugs:antidiarrhea, anaelgesic, antipyretic, and antihistamine. You may get them in Indonesia's pharmacies too. Look for APOTIK/APOTEK. For over the counter drugs in Indonesia, you may get NEW DIATABS for antidiarrhea, CTM or Pyriton for antihistamine, NEURALGIN for anaelgesic, and Paracetamol/Bodrex/Paramex for the fever. Get them if you dont have any other complicated diseases. During the rainy season, you have to take extra attention for malaria and dengue fever.Food and water are not safe mostly so you may get diarrhea and pollen-dust-dirt-gas fumes may cause some allergy. They will charge the foreigners more in the hospital. For the backpackers, bring hand sanitizer liquid/wet tissue, mosquito repellent, mineral water and tissues anywhere. These are the good ones which are available in Indonesia : AUTAN for antimosquito lotion, DETOL/BAGUS for hand sanitizer, DETOL/ JOHNSON&JOHNSON for wet tissue, and AQUA for the mineral water. They will be found in all over the cities in Indonesia.

Bring the good and strong bags for the check in luggages, with the name-address in-out of the bag, and locked securely. Surfing boards should be placed within the good carrying case/bag.Nobody will be responsible for any loss or damage here. Water proof bags will be convinient or wrap your bags with the plastic wrapper if you have the wrapper service in your homecountry's airport.I have seen all the baggages was carried under the rain without any cover by the local airlines many times. The check in baggage will be allowed within 25-30 kgs for domestic flights here. You may bring 'as many as you can carry' for the hand carry bags.
It is a tropical country so bring the light and cotton clothes. For the backpackers: leave all your white clothes and leathers. You may bring a light jacket for your flights (no blanket will be available on board). Bring the comfortable shoes and flip flop. Hats or caps will be good for sun protection.
For medical supplies : see my other tips BRING THESE FOR YOUR HEALTH. Antidiarrhea, anti allergy, and mosquitoes repellent will be mandatory.Bring good sunblock from home, SPF 15+ with UVA and UVB. The good ones will be found in the big cities only.Liquid tissues or hand sanitizer will be a must.
Bring the best camera you have, many magnificient views here and water proof camera if you are coming for surfing, diving, or snorkeling. Memory cards and handycam cds will be available in all the province's capitals. Bring big capacity ones and camera with alkaline batteries if you are going to the remote areas.Negative films will be available anywhere.
For trekking tours, bring good torch, good swiss army/survival knife, and good hiking shoes. Beach gears in your bags for sure, many beautiful beaches here.
Liquid in the bottle/ container should not be exceed 100 mL for the hand carry bags. Dont fold your dollar notes, they will be cheaper !! An other thing... DEATH SENTENCE FOR THE DRUG TRAFFICKING IN INDONESIA.

Survival Kits For Women Travellers by pangtidor Tampons are not generally used by the local people, so it could be difficult for you to find one especially when you are going to travel in some remote areas or as the backpackers. It would be the same if you are used to use specific cosmetics or other toiletries. Bring the good sunscreen for your face, the sun is not friendly in Indonesia. You will never find any napkin machines in any toilets in Indonesia like in other countries, even for the toilet paper most of the times. Bring bras if you are going to wear the tight tops. The local people are not used to see the tight tops without the bras. You can not enter some sacred places when you are on the period too. Whenever you go out, bring mineral water, a pack of tissue/kleenex, hand sanitizer, and umbrella if you can not tolerate the heat.

HAWKERS EVERYWHERE by lmkluque The weather is hot and humid and light weight clothes such as cotton would be the best to bring. Of course, the big hotels have swimming pools so bring a suit, because it is always hot, even when it rains!
Bring your own prescriptions and a high grade mosquito repellent, but anything else can be purchased here.
Throughout the residential areas you can hear the call of the hawkers. Even in the Kampung for the blind, the hawkers offer their product. If there is a food product from your country that you can't live without, bring it with you. Some things are not easy to find. I wanted to make chicken burritos and couldn't find a few of the ingredients. Leave a Comment

Balinese rice fields by jungles 1. A backpack is the only practical way to get around Indonesia if you're planning to travel around at all. 2. If you are staying in budget losmen, you might want to consider carrying a small fan. While usually provided, there were a few times when our fan was a lifesaver. On the other hand, it can really weigh your pack down. Maybe just a hand-held, battery-powered one is best. 3. Combination luggage locks (see my Warnings or Dangers tip)
1.Poncho or other raingear. 2. Sarongs are very useful and widely available. They can be used to carry stuff, to lie on at the beach, to cover up when walking to and from the beach or to and from a communal shower, or as a top sheet in budget hotels that have only bottom sheets on the bed. In Bali you must wear a sarong to enter Hindu temples. 3. If you are female and want to enter a mosque, bring a scarf or something to cover your head. 4. Sandals. Flip flops are probably the most common footwear in Indonesia. 5. If you are prone to bloodclots then you might want to consider therapeutic travel socks for all those long hours sitting still on cramped buses. They can be bought at http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/, Item # 73546.
1. Remember to carry toilet paper with you, or learn to wash with water as the locals do 2. Suncream 3. Anti-malarial tablets should be taken if you're going anywhere besides Bali and the major tourist areas. Lariam is known to cause serious side effects such as vivid nightmares or insanity; I would take either cloroquine or doxycycline instead.
1. Bring a case for your camera, preferably a water-resistant one, so if it falls in a river like mine did it might not be totally ruined.
1. Bug repellent with DEET 2. If you are planning to stay in remote villages, a sleeping bag will definitely come in handy. Also good for long ferry rides.
1. Try to keep small bills/notes whenever you can get them, as no one ever has change. 2. Bring some sort of water filter/purifier. You will save money on bottled water, and you won't waste all that plastic. Also useful when trekking. 3. Carry some kretek (clove cigarettes) to share with locals. Almost every male Indonesian smokes them, and it's a good way to start a conversation, or to show your friendliness if you don't have the language skills to hold a conversation. 4. Ear plugs! You will need them to shut out the roosters crowing at dawn and the loud music on buses. 5. If you're planning to take ferries, consider bringing a sleeping mask to cover your eyes, as the flourescent lights are left on all night. 5. Postcards or some other small gift from your country that you can give to people you meet. Note: If you are starting your journey in Jakarta, you can buy anything you will need there quite cheaply. The Carrefour supermarket is a good place to look, whatever you're looking for.

by tere1 In Bali the weather is very hot and humid. Take light clothes, shorts, confortable shoes or sandals and a hat.Take just a few things, you need space in you luggage for the many things you will buy there.
Don't forget to take a high sun protector, mosquito coils and mosquito repellents. You should always carry kleenex with you because you may need them. Before you travel go to a doctor so that he can prescribe you the medicines you might need there. A medical kit is always necessary, painkillers, Immodium. You should also have your tetanus vacination in order. Leave a Comment
