Biak Things to Do
From Biak town heading north, there is a turnoff just out side the urban area to the “ Japanese “ Cave, or Goa Binsari.

The immediate Allied objective were the air fields at Mokmer, on June 7 1944 but the struggle continued unabated as the Japanese pouret heavy fire into the newly estabilished filed positions. It was another week before the airship could be used.
The final toll was 400 U.S soldiers killed and 7,400 Japanese, many whom commited ritual suicide when the realized their situation was hopless. Only 220 Japanese surrendered or were captured.
