Rumah Makan Dofior: Fresh Seafood, Oh Yeah!

This restaurant (rumah makan) is one of the best, is told. Actually most of the Indonesian restaurants got set up specially for tourists. Most of the people eat in the little warungs (eating-places). The Dofior restaurant is serving very authentic food. If you can manege a few words of Bahasa Indonesia, they will offer some extra's to the dishes for you. Very friendly staff who remembered us on a return visit. The great view at sea already was an extra!

Favorite Dish: We had a wonderful fish-soup (soto ikan), sambel goreng buncis (special vegetables of beans with salted fish). The krupuk udang (crispery chips of shrimps) was excellent. These people know how to prepare their meals ... and a delicious sambal bajak, the red hot pepper sauce!

Hotel Batanta Beach: So Basic - So Cheap - So Delicious

by RoyJava Updated Aug 12, 2008

Though very basic the people from the Hotel took care in a special way to us. Room service was from the Hotel, where a restaurant with some tables got furnished in the entrance-hall. No customers, still we could have a wonderfull diner ...

Favorite Dish: Let me try to describe our delicious dinner. There was "ketela goreng", like fried potatoes. We had nasi pituh, white cooked rice, with gerèh, or salted fish and, ikan teri (little fried fish). Some beans had been specially prepared as vegetables. Garnished with krupuk udang and emping, 2 sorts of fried chips in a very traditional Indonesian way. Special add is the sambal lalap, a home-made hot red peper sauce. I can tell you it was a great party dinner and we did not had any stomach aches ...
