Pulau Sempu Favorites
Favorite thing: Sempu (pronounced sem-poo) Island is approximately 50 km south of the Malang. 10 minutes ride from Sendangbiru, a small fishing village. Sendangbiru is located on the mainland at the southwestern end of the channel; it lies in the shadow-zone of Sempu Island and hence is protected from the typical swell of the Indian Ocean.Very beautiful island sorrounded by sea. To get to the beach takes an hour walk through the pledge. The water is green-blue, with lots of corals, reefs, and antique fish.
You can build tends when you get inside of Sempu Cagar Alam, but be sure to bring food and water since the island is out of nowhere. If you want to have a decent place to stay, then you can stay at villagers' house or losmen near Sendangbiru area. You can also park your car for days in some of the native's residence.
If you like snorkling, bring your equipments along coz there are lots of beautiful fishes in the beach. Overall, you won't regret your visit there.
Fondest memory: Making fire place, eating in front of the fire, singing and talking to others without any city sorroundings. At night, you will see nothing but the stars in the sky. I have also snorkeled there and found some unique fishes.Related to:
