The food is very cheap.. a nice shrimp dinner 'with wine' will usually cost around 4-5.00 $ U.S. Drivers will come and pick you up at your hotel and drive you back from the restaurant for free ! Awsome service Crab, crab and more crab mm mmmmm

*Sanur night market (better than the bigger one in Denpasar)*Bakso guy with his pushcartCost:Tamie Goreng - 7000 rupia (about 70 cents US)- and this is an expensive mealBakso - 2000 Rupia (about 20 cents US)Nasi Jinggo - as Jinggo is slang for 1000... that's why they call it Nasi Jinggo, becasue it's 1000 Rupia (10 cents US) *Four-way Tie*Night Market:Tamie Goreng -You will have it prepared differently depending on where you eat it.noodles that are either cooked then deep fried to make them crunchy... or else not boiled long enough to be too soft. It is then covered in a mix of sayur hijau (dark green, spiniach-like veggie) with pork, veggies, egg with a little brohy liquid that is then thickened a little with what I think is probably cornstarch. A huge plate that I have a hard time finishing. Nasi Campur -Means Mixed rice. White rice mixed with whatever you want. There are tons of...

by Adrian_Loh

Check out Cafe Helo Helo at Pasar Oleh Oleh. Pasar Oleh Oleh is a cluster of shops, where one can find souvenirs and stuff. Cafe Helo is just one of the restaurants there. If you want an alternative to Hotel food which can get abit pricey (The Angsana Resort & Banyan Tree charges in US dollars), check out Cafe Helo Helo for some good local fare. average check around US$2-5 depending on what you order.Nothing much for its facilities but they have like a band playing every night or saturday night. The calamari is definately out of this world, probably the best in the world in my opinion.

Every local eating place. So...

by pavlag

Every local eating place. So not at tourist destination, but on a villages on the road in the houses with a small roof over the entrance and a 'five tables one refrigenerator' room with a kitchen in a corner and a meal made fresh just for you.As a foreigner on a place where only locals come you'll get a second rice bowl as a locals in the price and sometimes some extra, like fryid bananas, to try free of charge. Actually everything what is served. As we have visited these places with our guide we have not learned the names of the meals but the great taste of such easy dishes like pork meat fried on onion with pepper and fried noodles. I guess the air around and the smile of a local girl preparing it make the difference.

I guess there are so many around ubud.......like Murni's Warung, which is located just around the river...really good views of the river .....great atmosphere or the long time favourite, Lotus Cafe, Indus Cafe or Dirty DuckThe river view , the sound of the jungle nearby, sometimes u can also see the local Balinese bathing or washing in the river. I love the frog legs..hahaha......served with rice.

Mama Putus in Sanur Beach: Mama Putus in Sanur Beach

by SooBrand

We had the most wonderful lunch here and seeing lobster on the menu decided to order it in advance for our meal the next evening. We arranged this all through Mama herself and she recommended the quantities of lobster she thought we'd need per person. We thought this sounded a bit excessive and encouraged her to go for a lesser amount, paid a deposit and left. When we returned the following night we were presented with 4 lobsters each!!!! A quantity we felt totally excessive and unnecessary but there was no point in wasting them and they were absolutely delicious. You may now understand my expression in the photo!!! Lobster and a wonderful Nasi Goreng (fried noodles with vegetables and peanut sauce)

Not a specific recommendation,...

by SooBrand

Not a specific recommendation, more a general tip. Having spent ages looking for restaurant recommendations on the internet and trying several we came to the conclusion that often the basic warungs with uncomplicated menus offered the best food at the best prices. I think a lot of eateries have sprung up which seemed fairly upmarket for Bali and were offering very tempting sounding food, sometime slight variations of Balinese food, but often just appealing international cuisine. We were invariably disappointed in these places and all the best meals we ate in Bali were at more basic warungs where they served us barbecued seafood or traditional Balinese food. They had the added bonus of being amazingly cheap too!!

Papa's on the Kuta waterfront...

Papa's on the Kuta waterfront and Bambu at Benoa.Inside dining and al fresco on the timber decks at Papa's. The typical Balinese setting and the welcome at Bambu. Go there and see what I mean! Try the seafood.

by Calim

We went to a wonderful fish restaurant in Yogyakarta: Mojo Lejar (or at least something like that). The restaurant is situated in the water, ritgh beside rice terraces and the vulcano Merapi. The landspace is beautiful, prices are more than fair... FISH. You better take the grilled fish and not the fried one. Otherwise you'll be surprised (see picture :-))
