Run the hash with the DHHH - 'a drinking club with a running problem'.

Duri Hash House Harriers is a diverse mixed background/nationality/employment status Hash, adults only except on the first Monday of every month, when Hashers are allowed to bring someone of less than adult age.

Runs every Monday 17:15. Gathers at the hash house and runs an A - B course. Hash bar is the B-Bar.

Enjoy hashing in the Duri Woods, in the kampungs, among oil fields or in the asphalt jungle of the camp.

Pak Datuk serves Padang food, those 'fastest' food and spicy foods. When you sit on your table different (and lots) food viands are immediatley served. You pay only what you eat and there are foods that are not spicy.

Favorite Dish: Dendeng (local spicy beef steak)

Duri Shopping

Ramayana opened shop July 2008 and the first building with escalators in Duri.

    Catering to the DEF market.

    Supermarket.

Compared with other branches (Pekanbaru, Dumai, Jakarta) the place is also hot - Pekanbaru is the hottest. They installed escalators but did not bother to install centralized AC. They use packaged type AC which is sometimes turned off. Lots of hot spots around make you sweat while shopping.

What to buy: What a department store & supermarket offers.

    What to pay: Not much!

Duri Warnings and Dangers

Motorcycles abound in Duri, young and old drivers, licensed or not, and they are fast disregarding traffic regulations. They pass your car on your left and your right. With the new traffic islands installed you can see them driving "lawan arus" - against the traffic. Be careful driving, if a motorcylce bump/hit your car it is your fault even though it is the motorcylce's fault.

What are the police doing? I do not know, it is rarely that you see policemen around.

Duri Off The Beaten Path

Buying beef in the traditional market in Jalan Sudirman is quite an experience.

Here you can buy tenderloin, sirloin, chuck, shank. brisket, flank, round, leg, etc., all without bones, at one single price. But buying your choice beef cut (tenderloin = "khas dalam") requires you to go there early, else you ran out of choicest cuts.

People does not go much for tender meats but opt for the the tougher meats as they need it for their "rendang" dishes.

As of January 2012, a kilo of beef for all kind of meat cuts cost IDR75,000 (@IDR9000/USD). Cost of beef gets expensive during the Ramadan holiday.
