Favorite thing: There are lots of tropical fruits available in Indonesia at a very cheap price, especially fruits such as durians, pineapples, papayas, bananas etc. Its very cool and refreshing to have a cup of fruit juice in the tropical heat.

Fondest memory: The relaxing tropical landscape with coconut trees, attap houses and a warm tropical breeze makes Riau province a good getaway from the cold weather. One good thing about Riau is that the province is very near to neigbouring Singapore and Malaysia, which makes travelling to the more touristy locations such as Batam Island and Bintan Island fairly easy.

Fondest memory: Doing the para-sailing during my stay at Sunway Lagoon Resort on Batam Island, Riau province. When I was up in the air, I could see the various islands of the Riau group of islands which was amazing. More photos and tips are at my VT Pulau Batam page.
