Dino Shipping Counter by DarkRay This is definitely the most popular way to get into Batam from Singapore. Even during peak periods, it is relatively easy to purchase ferry tickets to and fro Batam as there are quite a few operators and a number of departures daily. These tickets can be purchase from the various counters set up at level 2 of HarbourFront Centre at the Cruise Centre's end, such as the one shown in the photo. There are altogether 4 ferry terminals in Batam as follow: 1. Batam Centre - This is the ferry terminal to go if you are planning to mainly spend your time in Batam Centre . 2. Nongsapura - This is the ferry terminal to go if you are planning to mainly spend your time playing golf and staying in Turi Beach Resort. 3. Sekupang - This is the ferry terminal to go if you are planning to mainly spend your time in Nagoya town. 4. Teluk Senimba - This is the ferry terminal to go if you are planning to mainly spend your time in WaterFront City. With the exception of Nongsapura, whereby the ferry commutation is from to and fro Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, the rest will be between the respective remaining destinations and HarbourFront Centre Ferry Terminal. The prices for a adult return ferry ticket should be around S$22. But there is an additional S$5 departure tax levied when leaving Singapore as well as another S$3 departure tax levied when leaving Batam. More information about the various vessel operators and their related information can be found from the Singapore Cruise Centre's website at http://www.singaporecruise.com. Leave a Comment

Channel Holidays Pte Ltd by DarkRay There are many groups of vistors travelling on pre-arranged Free-and-Easy travel packages to Batam who departs at 10am ~ 12pm from Singapore and 1pm ~ 3pm from Batam. So if you do not like to jostle with the crowd, try to make sure that your ferry timings are out of this time slot as far as possible. But do take note that if you are buying a pre-arranged Free-and-Easy travel package, it will cost about S$5 per person to shift each ferry timing to a non-standard one. The photo shown below is one of the two coordinating travel agent who issues the actual borading travel passes for Dino Shipping. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

HarbourFront MRT Station by DarkRay Fortunately, the HarbourFront Centre Terminal is directly connected to HarbourFront Centre, which is in turn directly served by the HarbourFront MRT Station within the same complex. Because of this, since most trips involving the HarbourFront Centre Ferry Terminal are usually for short trips to Batam with little luggage, one can take the MRT and save on the cab fare, as well as save the extra walking distance needed should one take the bus. However, please note that for ferries departing to Nongsapura, this will not apply as the ferry terminal involved will be Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, which is unfortunately not directly reachable by MRT. The Batam Center Ferry Terminal is the place where ferries from Singapore will arrive and depart (Penguin Ferry & Batam Fast). This is a relatively new building with some shopping and eating places. Across the road is a big shopping centre called Mega Mall (see my shopping tips). More information on the ferry schedule is at the webpage below. There is also another newer ferry terminal at Batu Ampar (Wave Master ferry) which is much nearer to Nagoya city (capital of Batam) with ferry services between Singapore and Batam (see my Citra Tritunas Ferry Terminal tip). Ferry leaving Singapore.... by SLLiew There were two main ferry services and several tours to Batam. I used Batam Fast. The cost is the same as it is competitive. There are 3 main arrival points at Batam and so decide ahead where you want to land in Batam. I headed for Batam Ferry Terminal which is closest to Nagoya Center. Theme: Ship/Boat

For those in Nagoya, please take note that most trips lasting less than 10 minutes around town (such as from DC Mall to Center Point) cost about 20,000 ruppiah. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Penguin Ferry for visiting Batam by bkarjee Batam is conveniently reached from Singapore by ferries. There are two main service providers, Penguin and Wavemaster. Both have very good ferry service and it takes around 50-60 mts to reach Batam from Singapore. In Singapore, there are two ferry terminals for going to Batam-Harbourfront and Tanah Merah Ferry terminal. Harbourfront is the main ferry terminal. If one wants to go to Nongsa centre in Batam, the ferries depart from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. For going to rest of the ports in Batam, one should go to Harbourfront terminal, which can be easily reached by cab, MRT or by bus. It is advicable to book to and fro tickets from the same service provider. We booked through Penguin and the return ticket costed Sing Dollars 30 per person. The ferries keep departing every 30 mts on an average and they serve clean drinking water on board free. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

Batam Ferry by MikeAtSea Visitor from Singapore find great convenience travelling to Batam. The frequent ferry crossing from the Singapore Cruise Terminal offers ferries right through the day across the Singapore Straits. Ticket offices are on the first floor of the cruise terminal and crossing is about 1 hour. Just remember there is a one hour time difference between Singapore and Indonesia so you gain an hour travelling to Indonesia and loose one hour going back. If you want to travel from Batam to other islands in Riau province by ferry, you should go to the Sekupang Ferry Terminal. There are many companies here which offer ferries to several important towns on the various islands, such as Bengkalis town, Selatpanjang town, Tanjung Balai town, Tanjung Pinang town and Dumai town. Time taken are roughly as follows: - Batam to Tanjung Balai (about 1 hour) - Batam to Selatpanjang (about 2 hours) - Batam to Bengkalis (about 3.5 hours) - Batam to Dumai (about 5 hours) - Batam to Tanjung Pinang (about 1.5 hours) Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat
