Passing through the neat street at Losari Beach and after all the goldsmith shops in Jalan Somba Opu are closed for the day. Sunset is over! Where can a stranger new in town go to for night life?

Go over to the amusement Park of Trans Studio? This place is more for the younger set.

Nice to go for tha drink and stay on until the night life starts. This is the famous strip of road where the night life for Makassar happenings.

When it comes to good life like, singing, drinking and dancing. No further introduction needed. Just show me the place.

Dress Code: No shorts and no sneakers but smart casual is never wrong.

Going for a drink and a dance seems a descent in true darker area's in Indonesia. The bigger cities (at Java & Bali) show some real night-life, but in other places the people go to sleep when night is falling.

Then the city comes to alive to take its visitors to nightlife after sunset. Bugis women (Kupu Kupu Malam/Night Butterflies) will keep you company all night. Most of the bars have Karaoke and, we managed to visit the "famous" Zig-Zag Disco. Donot mention it was a Gay-bar ... and we haven't heard "itu dosa" (that's sin) ... we had fun, included my aunt!

Dress Code: No special dress requirements, tourists will get the privilige to enter any place ...

Makassar's Chinatown (c) ukirsari

Chinatown is a nice place to hang-out in the night time. The mercury lamps along the street plus old and new temples make the atmosphere "glittering'. And several hawker stalls and fresh fruits sellers can be found here too.
