Palembang Restaurants

I found this super clean, tidy, restaurant in Palembang which spelializes in the local food PEMPEK. I have tried some before but not like that of Cafe Nawa. They also offered 1st class Indonesian and Chinese food. My 7 days eating in Palembang was at this fantastic restaurant. Oh yeh, great staff and a humorous owner. Worth the trip just to meet her.

Favorite Dish: Pempek here is absolutely first class. They tell me they use Belido fish, maybe thats why it's better than others I tried.
There Nasi goring is to die for. Such a great variety of this to choose from and Noodles of course.

Situated at the Bank of Musi River, just going down from Ampera Bridge, or one can go From Benteng Kuto Besak, in which, the restaurant give a free charge boat service across Musi river from a small port in front of Benteng , it will take no more than five minutes boating.
Warung Legenda is a boating cafe which open 24 hours, with kind waiters, good services, enjoy food while watching AMPERA BRIdge, Benteng Kuto Besak, or a seeing a busy traffic of water transportation in Musi River

Favorite Dish: There are so many choices , but i think one also could try , a local cuisine of MPEK-MPEK Palembang, or just have diner of Nasi Goreng etc, i am sorry, at that moment, i have no time and chances going this nice boating cafe

There are plenty of pempek restaurants in Palembang, but Pempek Dempo 310 became the choice of some native pempek lovers. They ordered tons of pempek to be brought to Bandung. The pempek survived the long journey.

Pempek is usually eaten with black hot vinegar sauce made of palm sugar, tamarind/vinegar, chillies, shallots, and garlics. You dip your pempek into the sauce or you slurp the sauce.

For those who bring the pempek to far-away places, the seller usually provides thickened sauce for an easy transportation. You mix this sauce with water.

At Pempek Dempo 310, you can see a black belida fish in the aquarium. The best pempek is made of belida fish. Unfortunately, this fresh-water fish is on the brink of extinction. Hence, pempek made of belida fish is very expensive.

Favorite Dish: Empek-empek is the most famous snack at Palembang and very well known if we have a topic about this city. Soon you will hear "Oh, are you trying Empek-empek already?"
Empek-empek [also Tekwan] used fish meat as the main content. Added with fluor dan egg and shaped in several types: rounded [called lenjeran], added boiled egg inside and wrapped [called kapal selam --or submarine!!!!] and another shaped that I forgot about the names.
Meanwhile, Tekwan is fish balls look-a-like. Served with light soup plus shrimp, mushroom, celery and water chesnut. Hmmmmmm .... the most I like is Tekwan! Both Tekwan and Empek-empek served with sweet-sour sauce made of brown sugar, vinegar and sugar.

Mie celor is thick noodle with creamy coconut sauce garnished with slices of egg, prawns, fried shallots, spring onions.

It is not my favorite noodle, but those who love it really enjoy it.
