Another fine restaurant in a Five Star Hotel.
I ate here several times and though I was told that it was, "Five Star" I didn't really know what that actually meant. At first walking in, the blast from the air conditioning was a life saver! Yet, after ten or fifteen minutes I felt the heat. Not as it was outside, but much warmer than an air conditioned restaurant I'd go to here in the States.
In any case, the hotel was a very nice one and I can't begin to say how much I enjoyed the food. Each time here, we had the generous and delicious all-you-can-eat buffet in a lovely dining room.
This was one of the places that convinced me that Indonesian food is the best of the best.
Favorite Dish: Everything offered had a very delicious flavor, Sambal Udong (Shrimp in chili sambal) was my favorite, but I had a bit of everything and liked it all.
I can only say that the food was so good I actually forgot about the heat.

Hmm I heard a lot of good things about the buffet at the Marriott. I don't want to say i am a snob with regard to eating...but i don't usually go to a coffeeshop of a hotel to enjoy food.Certainly not eat at a buffet.
You come to a buffet to stuff yourself...but not a place when you talk about great food.
But the Buffet at the marriott proved me wrong. First of all the place is just HUGE.But food on offer is equally huge. Just the variety of choice is truly incredible.
But what really impressed me was the open kitchen in the restaurant. The sushi is prepared at the sushi bar. The indonesian desserts(recommended) are prepared freshly.U can literally see how the chefs prepare the food you are eating. This is something you hardly see in other buffets and i think subconciously you think the food is better this way. Because u think/know that the food you are eating is actually freshly made.
What I don't like is just the massiveness of the place.if not for it's opulence..it would look like a college foodfarm. (Ps to be fair there was a couple of huge groups who were having parties or something) but atmosphere is not one where you can really enjoy your food in comfort and quiet atmosphere..
But on the otherhand....the atmosphere is quite friendly and loose and people come here to eat and enjoy themselves. No stuffiness. So if just want to eat, relax with friends and family. Excellent. For a quiet and romantic dinner....definite no-no.
Favorite Dish: The choice of food is just awesome. They don't just serve dishes from certain cuisines. They literally have stations that serves whole cuisines. You really need to explore the restaurant to discover the different cuisines served at the different stations.
When i ate here....there was a station specialising in indian cuisine(6/8 different dishes), Indonesian(sotobar, dessertbar, regular indofood),pastastation, International, chinese, sushi, juice/cocktail bar and the dessert/fruit station. i am a huge eater and I dont think you can even try it all.
Anyway the food is not outstanding, but I think it's quite good and with the openkitchen you have a feeling that what you are eating is fresh. Anyway in a place like this it's all about choice. You pay once and you get the chance to taste a whole bunch of different cuisines. taste foods you won't normally order.
I think even for a foodie this place can be enjoyed ,because you really have the chance to explore and try different things.
As a tourist...great place to enjoy your own familiar favourites or try the different local delicacies.
The price is high for indonesia...but IMHO it's a real bargain. Why.....they have a juice/cocktail bar included. So unless u must drink alcohol...the price they asked is a all included price. food AND drink. Best value meal IMHO. You can have as many courses as u want, eat as long as u want and no need tow orry about a hefty drinkbill.

We had breakfast included with our room price & our children still say it was one of their favourite meals on holiday. That's because they served freshly cooked waffles/pancakes with strawberries & cream. The rest of the bufet breakfast selection was good too. A great variety to choose from hot, cold, sweet & savoury. Plenty of coffee & tea.
Favorite Dish: The whole breakfast buffet was great the selection of breads & fruits was excellent as was all the hot foods. It also had a cook preparing eggs whichever way you wanted them. And the waffle maker too
The restaurant is open 24 hours and serves buffet dinners, snacks and international meals too.

Nice Restaurant, Nice food
very fresh fish for the sushi!
A lot lot lot of choice : Indonesia, roast duck, martabak telor, european, shell, sushi, india, great salad (the best homemade sauce I ever taste) and various yummy desert cake + fruit + homemade ice cream.
Not Special is the price - VERY EXPENSIVE!
This is lunch buffet price:
1 aqua bottle: Rp. 25000
@ person buffet : Rp. 135000
(That's not incl. 10% service charge + 10% Tax)
If you have JW preffered card 20% discount
I'm not sure this's allowed or not, inside the restaurant at the corner (near the wine store) They provide some glasses of water, so maybe you can save some money there without have to buy the drink. Just ask the waiter!
Favorite Dish: roast duck
sushi
desert
Very Good variety of food
My Comment:
Good to try once a life time! but if you're in business travel - VERY WORTHY! Most of people in restaurant is business people.

Samudra Shark Fin is located at Hotel Mulia near Plaza Senayan and offers one of the cheapest buffets in town. During lunch hour, you need only pay Rp 89,000++ per person to enjoy the all-you-can-eat dim sum and other Chinese Food delicacies from an extensive selection, plus unlimited visits to the noodle and hors d'ouevre bars.
The dim sum and the main courses are cooked when you order, so it's always fresh and delicious. You can select as many dishes as you wish from a very comprehensive list. The restaurant is popular with families during weekends so reservation is always recommended.

Located on the ground floor of JW Marriott Jakarta where the infamous bombing took place, Sailendra Restaurant offers one of the most complete buffet spreads and one of the best-value-for money lunch buffets in town.
The buffet spread includes a Japanese sashimi and sushi bar, Western fares, traditional Indonesian food including a separate noodle bar, Asian delicacies, and Indian specialities. For those with sweet tooth, the desserts are out of this world, you might even get tempted to try out all the desserts and skipped the other offerings.
The price for a lunch buffet is Rp 112,000++ and the place is teeming with expats and ladies-who-lunch types during lunch hour. The restaurant itself is very large, with bright and airy atmosphere. Service is also friendly and attentive. Just make sure you skip breakfast before you come here :)

Since me and Dimka are seafood lovers, we like to visit this place in the weekend. Situated nearby Hard Rock Cafe Jakarta, Mc Donald's and Bakso Karapitan, this resto has modern decorated (the sketches hanging on the wall remind me with sketches in O La La cafes!).
Favorite Dish: Hmm hmmm, so many seafood are presented here. From Chinese style, local 'till several eateries made from chicken and meats as "special guest stars". I do like their fish steamed in salty sauce, Tom Yam Goong, grilled prawn and fried calamari.
