If you think that Jakarta's best foods are in the 4 star hotels, think again! Here's an example: This drink/dessert stall has been around for years. They're famous for Es Alpukat (Avocado Ice). It's scooped Avocado with chocolate milk. I fyou think Avocado is only good as Guacamole or as a salad, you have to try this! Es Teler is a variation on this theme with Nangka/Jackfruit and coconut added to the mix.
Favorite Dish: Es Alpukat.

This is my absolute favorite food when I'm in Indonesia... Martabak Manis Komplit
This is food prepared in the streets in a car. Every day in the evening the cookers post in the streets to make this delicacy.
Indonesian cookery is influenced by many countries...this recipe found his origin in India.
Favorite Dish: Martabak manis Komplit
A high pancake filled with sugar , chocolate , concentrated milk , cheddar cheese....lots of butter (sometimes with banana)
I know it's a stange combination...but it tastes...;-))))
It is a bit more expensive then other dishes , the reason for that is Indonesia has to import some of the ingredients. (price 10 000 - 16000 ir , less then 2 euro)

It's become my and Nick (VTer NickIng) fave about getting the fresh fruits. Located in the second floor of AutoMall, this counter isn't so big. But looks fancy, "With very light chairs," Nick added. And the fresh fruits they're serve also cool.
Favorite Dish: Fruit salad with 2 types of topping: winter (with milk and yogurt) and summer (mixed orange juice, kiwi and pineapple --Nick always say "apple with a bit pine", hahahahha).
