This classy neighborhood in South Jakarta is home to many Jakarta's wealthiest and is also heavily populated by expats. In recent years, Kemang has seen a staggering growth of restaurants, cafes, boutiques, furnishing, and antique shops that more than add to the burden of its narrow streets. The results? Constant traffic jams throughout the day and the early evenings.
However, during weekends and holidays, Kemang streets are less hectic and this might be the best time to explore this interesting neighborhood. You can literally find everything you need in Kemang, from satisfying your stomach to rejuvenating your senses in a day spa. Kemang streets are lined with cafes, restaurants, small boutiques, art galleries, and furnishing stores. The selection of restaurants are plentiful, from Japanese to Jamaican, and many are regarded as the best in town.
Each June, Kemang Street Festival is held to celebrate Jakarta's anniversary.

If you in Jakarta around the month of June, you should try to visit Kemang Street Festival.
The Festival is aimed at raising Kemang potential as one of the centers of arts and crafts in Jakarta and promoting Kemang area as one of the recreational and tourism centers to international community. The event will be a blend of culture; business and leisure, with items on sale focused more on art and craft products. The Festival will also serve as a media to raise funds, part of which will proceed to Kemang community in the forms of items harnessed for rehabilitating public facilities, such as bus stops and the provision of decorated potted plants and greens which then will improve Kemang to be a shopping and leisure area with human friendly pedestrian.
The peak program will feature parades, bazaar, art performances, Kemang merchants activity, such as auctions and special offer, various classes on art field, including painting, photography and arranging flower and various contests.
