At Thamrin Street roundup Salamat Datang the Bunderan HI is now (2012) some new to see:
The "HI" is now the "Hotel Indonesia Kempinski" - see the Photo:
Of course: 5 Stars and all around with shure-
And at the Photos is nice to see the old HI - main-Buildung is in old style until now.
Since 1992 whe together with the Salamat Datang fountain an monument founded by first Indonesia President Sukarno.
It is worth to make a little view inside the lobby, and it i nice to see some of the old style buildung is included the new architecture now.
By the way-
in the complex of HI Kempinski is the "Paulaner" a new German Restaurant
simply go auf left and ask (across the sogo) -real good Bavaria Uerdinger Weissbier!
If you want to see the mosaik wall pictures of indonesian dances, sportsmen and so on, all in the style of the 60-ties, (this at 2000 before closing of old HI had seen in the restaurant area), it is able until now.
If you have interest, so just ask at the reception desk and mention it and the remembering of the founder of HI- and maybe, they will guide you there. Very interesting.

When last mid November 2010 the American President Mr. Barrack Obama visited Jakarta,
- so is said -
on the way Mr. B. Obama remarked, how much had changed in Jakarta,
but he had good remember to "SARINAH building" at Jalan Thamrin since old time, situated not far from "Salamat Datang" Monument at Bunderan HI.
Real the "SARINAH" building is until today a landmark, last but not least cause of the restaurants with the well known names nearby and under the roofs of Sarinah building.

HI (Hotel Indonesia) Triagle is located in the golden triagle of jalan Sudirman, jalan Thamrin and Menteng, where famous with the Welcome Statue.....
This 30 meters high statue a man and a woman holding up a bouquet of flowers was commissioned by president Sukarno to welcome the athletes participanting in the 1962 Asian Games.

Situated at Bundaran Hotel Indonesia in the heart of Jakarta. ‘Selamat Datang’ means Welcome to anybody who visiting Jakarta. Waterfall and rounded pool are below this statue, that’s why the location name’s ‘bundaran’ (something rounded). Also called as the zero point of Jakarta.

It's a monumental sculpture about running horses to Kurusetra battle-field in the myth of Barata Yudha (the war of Baratha). I love this sculpute, this monument very much and simply address it as "run baby run" .... Made by I Nyoman Nuarta, one of the best artician from my country and situated in the heart of Jalan Mohammad Husni Thamrin to intersection of Medan Merdeka, silang Monas and Embassy of USA. Here, VTer Nick Ingram take the object in one 'package' with National Monument as background. Waowwwwww, fantastic, isn't it?
