Vuista express by belgianchocolate We had no tight schedule about when moving one and where figuring out some options... We went for information to VISTA EXPRESS , tours and travels to gather information. This little office is in menteng , not far from the cultural center TIM. And to our surprice an aiplane ticket to Yogyakarta here with Garuda was about 7 times cheaper then when we would order it in Belgium.... A girl will help you out in perfect English. 'Express' wasn't a lie either , in less then 15 minutes we had our ticket.Give it a shot. Maybe a reason for you to stay in Jakarta first one nigfht. VISTA EXPRESS Tours and travels , Jalan ciniki raya 58a 10330 Jakarta Vista@indosat.net.id I'm sure I will mail her for our next travel. :-) Leave a Comment Theme: AirplanePhone: (021) 323 432

Bejajs. by belgianchocolate Especially in the neighboorhood of the Fatahillah square you will find some Bajajs . These are little motorised 'cars' with three weels that smell immense. Suitable for short distances , negotiate about the price and make a deal before you get in. (quit cheap) Less pleasant is that you will get gassed for sure...but if you walk you will get gassed too. This way is safer in some neighbourhoods. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Blue bird by belgianchocolate Jakarta traffic is a chaos...there seem to be no rules for traffic. You probably heard one of those stories about criminal taxi drivers as well? no? Well the safest way to get arround Jakarta is a Blue Bird taxi. They are always very correct in using the meters... Make sure you get one of those. When leaving the hotel you will see that even the receptionist will sign at the other taxi companies to drive one. My experience is that they don't always know thier way arround. One did not find Ragunan zoo and the other did not knew the famous 'Oasis' restaurant. Even if I had the correct adresses. (I gave the ragunan man a map....amazing but true) The 'Silver Birds' are a little more luxurious and are the ones that bring you from the airport to Jakarta for the steady price of 80 000 ir (tol way included) , take a ticket at the silver bird desk in front of the arrival hall. Damri busses by belgianchocolate A cheap sollution to get you safe into Jakarta are the Damri busses. 10 000 IR.... About thet places to get of the bus. Modern white busses wait for you completely at the left of the exit at the end of the airport lane. (still in front of the arrival hall) You will be harassed by loads of 'taxidrivers' before you'll get there...just walk confident over there. The busses name are 'DAMRI' If you want to avoid Jakarta , 14 000ir and you are in Bogor. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Garuda! by belgianchocolate Last time we visited Indonesia we arrived with Garuda. The national airline companie. I must say that the domestic flights are in much nicer airplanes and more luxurious. Ofcourse we where too early in the airport. Als those warnings about traffic jam. They where not prepared to have our luggage checked in , but taking an early flight. NO PROBLEM. We paid 37 euro for the flight to Jogyakarta...booked at Vista express. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

by cokes I would say use the recommended taxi`s when travelling around in Jakarta. They all blue colour cars so you can`t miss it. Just a note when driving in the taxi , I seem to see that the meter continues to move even if the taxi is standing still and this happened on 2 occasssions so I don`t know if its standard practise. Also on both occassions when I took the taxi the drivers english was very bad so I guess just be clear when saying where you wanna go. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

SingaporeAirlines by xuessium This is one of the most competitive sector with many airlines offering their services. Full service airlines include: Singapore Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, Lion Airlines, Thai Airways, Air India, Emirates, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways, Philippines Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Air France, Lufthansa & KLM. (Adam Air is set to join the crowded scene by end Oct 2005) Budget airline: Valuair It is one situation that you may actually get a cheaper ticket on a full service airline than on a budget airline! I guess if you planing on going to Puncak over the weekend be sure to leave early as the traffic can be a killer. I left just after 1pm to go there and it took me just over 3 hours to get there. There is also a certain time when the traffic becomes a one-way so please take not of it when going there. This also applies if you going to visit Taman Safari. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

by kenningst The cheapest way to get from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to the city is by their public bus called Damri. Damri runs to a few different parts of of the city with a flat rate. Rates are as per below:- Airport to Block M (Rp 15000) LB. Bulus (Rp 15000) Gambir (Rp 15000) Rawamangun (Rp 15000) KP. Rambutan (Rp 15000) Pasar Minggu (Rp 15000) Kemayoran (Rp 15000) Tj. Priok (Rp 15000) Bekasi (Rp 23000) Serang (Rp 23000) Bogor (Rp 25000) Cikarang (Rp 25000) * A point to note is that taking a taxi will cost you something like 75000* I took the Damri bus from the airport to Gambir (or also called Gambir station. This Gambir station is actually a train station) which is situated at Jalan Merdeka Selatan (along the National Monument). From here its only a short walk away to Jalan Jaksa. On the day of my departure, I took the Damri bus back to the airport also from the Gambir Station. Really easy... Theme: Bus
