I went on a snorkel say trip when i stayed at gilis T island.
I walked to the beach where the boat picked us up which had a glass bottom to see fish.
Saw lots of fish very clear water. they made us wear floatation vest. You can rent mask and fins right before you board boat. Then they took us to the smaller gilis island for lunch we had to pay for our own lunch, service was slow because it was very crowded.
I did not bring a waterproof cam but enjoyed the crystal clear water and colorful fish in the ocean.

Boat lover that I am,
there was a moment that
I was looking for a boat to charter.
Had a real hard time
finding 'the' right one.
I actually gave up.
I do have a friend who
has tried a boat here
and another one there,
but haven't heard of the best results, yet.
So, if anyone out there happens to find a
first-class vessel out there,
please do let me know!
If not, one that looks good
by the brochure is
Ombak Putih Cruises.
They visit locations such as;
Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Lombak, Sumbawa,
Komodo, Sumba, Flores, Suluwasi, Alor, Ambn, Irian Jaya.
Now that is sailing!!!
Sailing is recommended of course,
during the seasons where there is wind!
Duh!!!
Otherwise....it's just motoring along.
Not as attractive.
This would be from April until the end of October
and from November until January.
If you are a diver,
definitely Indonesia is a place to check out
some of the best diversity of fishes a coral.
Happy sailings!
Wanna take me along?

Two to three hours of pure thrill and excitement as you go through the wild river. The river guide is very strong, like the Hercules. He control the direction and teach us to paddle the rubber dinghy, really exciting.

Waiara is a good place for scuba diving. Although the reefs were badly damaged in the 1992 earthquake and tidal wave, there is a large fish population. And as there are not many tourists, you have it all for yourself.
We didn't go diving as I'm not very fond of this activity. The entire staff was looking after us:
the six diving instructors,
one young man who looked after the boat,
two waiters,
the cook,
a receptionist,
a student of the hotel school,
and the owner of the place.
They all tried to persuade us to have a dive. We resisted the temptation, and were sitting on the beach enjoying the view. In the end they gave up, but they looked very disappointed when we left the grounds.
The village is a five-minute walk away. Along the way, children and adults were very much interested in us, 'orang belanda'. Most Indonesians still like us Dutch. A little girl came up to me and touched my arm. I am white, I am different. (Actually, I thought I had quite a good tan!) I had lots of balloons with me and everyone, adults included, were happy to get one

A: It would be too rushed to try to fit all four places in 5 days and 4 nights. It all depends on what you are after. If you want sun and swimming, Lake Toba is the place....
