TEGALLALANG
Along with two other friends I hired a car and driver for the day to travel to Lovina. Lovina is a lovely beachside resort popular with tourists and travellers in the north coast of Bali.
When in the town of Tegallalang to view the terraced rice fields it was suggested that we might like to visit the local "Coffee Centre. This was a great idea and located at the top of the mountain .Here we entered the "out of the way"( I thought) Coffee Centre and drank some of the most wonderful coffee.
I really wasn't aware that Bali produced such fine coffee..After looking around the centre and enjoying the coolness of its location,we sat and were asked if we would care to taste the many different types of coffee that they had...of course we agreed . I am a coffee lover and must say I was overly impressed with the quality of the coffee.
One Thing I did see ,that I had heard of previously and got my attention was the Luwak animals that are fed coffee beans. These animals are kept in enclosures and at the time of my visit were all asleep. ..These beans then pass through the animal and are then collected each morning..they then go through a cleaning process and the coffee beans are then packed and the "Luwak Coffee"sold for a really high price. I wonder who first thought of this idea!!! I personally thought that this was an extreme exploitation of the caged animals though.
The Coffee Centre Sales shop has a great collection of coffee which can be chosen then packaged and mailed to an address of your choosing. There are various other items for sale also.Bali Tea, lots of natural spices, and aroma therapy products.I personally thought that the coffee chocolate was good. I beleive this Centre was definately worth the visit.certainly different

TOTALLY FASCINATING TO WATCH THE RICE FARMERS AT WORK... SUCH A GREAT TIME SEEING THIS PLACE..THE JOY OF SOME OF THESE FARMERS WHEN THEY SAW TOURISTS LOOKING AT THEM WAS A SHOW IN ITSELF...THESE FARMERS WERE FRIENDLY AND KIND....Indonesia’s hot, humid climate and rich volcanic soil support many agricultural products. .....AND THIS PARTICULAR AREA BEING AWAY FROM MANY OR NO BUILDINGS IS PERFECT FOR RICE GROWING..
