Watch the sunrise from Mt Bromo
Imagine sitting on a horse at 5 a.m in the morning, crossing the moon-like vulcano landscape of Tengger with the view of this active 2,392-metre- (7,85 foot-) high volcano in front of you. As you approach the volcano you will start smelling the "rotten egg" or hydrogen sulfide gas, and you will also see the smoke of the volcano.

After climbing the 245 steps you land at the rim of Bromo's crater. Relax and wait for the red sunrise. Unbeliveable, and an experience for life - I promise :-))

It's a beautifull island without a lot of tourist, really good waves for surfing or bodyboarding... cool places and people... and off course really cheap...

OK, two other things we did while in Bali were also unique was to visit a monkey forest (with temple in the forest) and the monkies will come and sit on your shoulder. However they are very precocious and so will steal hats, glasses or anything not firmly attached to you and run off with it. Fortunately the guides are good at retreiving.

The other place were the local temples, in particular Tanah Lot (sea Temple) and an Elephant temple (in a cave).

One of my mates is a photojournalist from Austria. We ended up planning activities around his photo shoots, which were grand because we covered just about every inch of Bali and Lambok. The temples were my personal favourites.
Like I said before, Bali is magical, and the temples are such a part of these peoples lives, you couldn't help taking that spirituality home with you! Even if yer 'reality' only allowed you to stay that peaceful for a few days after!

    Diving the reefs
Outside Manado lies Bunaken marine nationalpark. This area are no less than the paradise itself for snorklers and scubadivers. Here are a countless number of corallspecies, at least 2700 fishspecies. Then there is gigantclams, nudibranches, lobsters...! All kinds of creatures you can expect to find in the tropical region. Here is also a selection of reptiles and mammals to be seen, included dolphins, bigger whales and the dugong feeding in the shallow grassfields. Snorkeling outside the lodges are a truly revarding experience. You don’t have to leave the surface to see a myriad of fishspecies, but it certainly pays off to be able to penetrate at least six meters below the surface. At the drop off, where the coralwall plunges almost vertically into the deep, you may encounter walls of moving fishes, with nothing fixed to look at, you may even be a little dizzy. Snorkeling here will certainly wake up your curiosity, but don’t touch anything, unless you know exactly what you are dealing with. Here is a variety of creature able to inflict very unplesant bites or stings. However, most will never attack unless provoked. This also applies to the blue and black, or blue and white seasnakes. Those are very venomous, but are extremely peacefull. I could follow them for as long as i wanted when they searched for prey, they never looked at me. Snorkeling the mangroves are less spectacular, but at high tide, the only possible time to do it properly, you will see a variety of strange small fishes. In this mangrovebelt you some places get a strange feeling of swimming in an elaborate aquarium as you crawl among the treerots. Fins often gets useless in the mangrove. If you are after the big game like forexample sharks go scubadiving. You don’t need to bee a divingexpert to dive here, here are divingplaces for several levels of experience. However, beeing used to deal with currents are a great advantage, it was in the exposed areas i saw most.
