These are the tours you should choose from, try to cover all. 1) Kintamani Volcano Tour: The first stop is often in the village of Batubulan to watch a performance of the Barong and Kris Dance. Afterwards you visit the villages of Celuk (silver jewellry) and Mas (wood carving) to see Balinese artisans at work. Ubud, Bali's cultural center, has grown to a busy town with numerous art galleries and shops. A scenic drive over small roads overlooking beautiful rice terraces brings you to the mountain village of Kintamani (about 5,000 feet above the sea) which offers spectacular views of Lake Batur and the volcano. You can cross the crater lake below the still active Mount Batur and visit the 'Bali Aga' village of Trunyan. Return through traditional villages with stops in Tampaksiring to visit the temple of Tirta Empul, and to visit the Elephant Cave 'Goa Gaja', a hermitage from the 11th....

Bali's natural attractions include miles of sandy beaches, picturesque rice terraces, towering active volcanoes, fast flowing rivers, deep ravines, pristine crater lakes, sacred caves, and lush tropical forests full of exotic wildlife. The island's rich cultural heritage is visible everywhere – temples and palaces, in many colorful festivals and ceremonies, in drama, music, and dance. You can experience Bali on many different excursions and guided tours by coach or private car, by boat or air plane. Most full day tours (about 8 to 10 hours) cost about US$30 to US$40 per person, half day tours US$20 to US$25. These prices include a multi-lingual guide and transport in an air-conditioned private car, all entrance fees, but no meals. Which guide and driver you choose can make or break your day: be warned that those who offer very low prices tend to waste your time by showing you hardly any...

First some background information on bali:Bali is part of Indonesia and is located 8 to 9 degrees south of the equator between Java in the West and Lombok and the rest of the Lesser Sunda Islands (Sumbawa, Flores, Sumba and Timor) in the East. Flying time to Jakarta is about 1.5 hours, to Singapore and Australia. The island is famous for its beautiful landscape. A chain of six volcanoes, between 1,350 meters and 3,014 meters high, stretches from west to east. There are lush tropical forests, pristine crater lakes, fast flowing rivers and deep ravines, pictoresque rice terraces, and fertile vegetable and fruit gardens. The beaches in the South consist of white sand, beaches in other parts of the island are covered with grey or black volcanic sand. As for the climate our travel guide wayan merta said you can expect day temperatures between 20 to 33 degrees Celsius degrees Fahrenheit...

Enjoy PARA-SAILING.My son can be seen about to take-off for Para-Sailing from the beach at a nearby island. I was quite contended taking snapshots of his take-off and sailing in the air. His landing was a bit off the mark. Instead of landing on the beach, he had a wet landing. Anyway, it wasn't too bad for a novice. Please click on the picture for an enlarged view. Fees charged are reasonable. It's much cheaper here than at Gold Coast, Australia.

Travel up on the island of Bali to the volcanic Mt. Batur. Apparantly it erupted as late as in the 60's killing 1000 - 2000 people and making a wasteland of several towns and villages on the east side. Driving down into 'the crater' you drive through a lava landscape that makes you feel like your'e on the moon. In the center there's a natural hot spa and not so natural ones. If you want a romantic hideaway you can travel over Lombok and further on to the Gili Islands. There is three of them. The biggest Gili Travangan is the party island. I don't remember the name of the one in the middle, but the smallest one is Gili Air. You walk around it in approx. 45 min. There are no motordriven vehicles -you walk or rent a horse and carriage at a horrible price. They cheat you no matter what... Exexpt for Hotel Gili Air ( which is really small) there are only small bungalows for rent. With squat...
Avoid Bali.Indonesia is one of the best countries in the world to travel in.There are many remote places which remain fairly untouched but still accessible.Flores and Sulawesi are my favourite places.Well why do you travel? You can experience a bit of Indonesia without being distracted by tourism.

The shadow puppets in Ubud. Also the Barong Dance, again in Ubud. They are excellent. There is a firedance that can be seen around Kuta and Legion but as yet we have not seen it yet.Check out the volcanoes, but watch out for the hawkers, they are as thick as flies! Also when you stop to take a picture of the wonderful rice terraces there will be a carved cows bone stuck in your face for sale before you can even get your camera out!

While I had visited Batam many times due to my work there, it was Shu Yah's first holiday there. We arrived at Batam in the late morning, after visiting my apartment there. While I have a small van parked below my apartment, I can't drive the company car when I am not working, we therefore took a taxi and visited a few places.Batam Center has the largest shopping center in Batam, 'Matahari'. The Immigration and other government offices are also situated there.Nagoya is the heart of Batam, there are shops, hotels & restaurants, discotheque, karaoke, cinemas just like any other cities. Most bank and money changers in Batam are also situated here. After shopping we went to the Waterfront City to enjoy jet ski and other water sports.
