Look out for these nasties!

by kiwi

Watch out for the cockroaches! They are pretty big! I guess you just have to learn to live with them, as they seem to appear often. I'm not used to that, so it seems nasty to me, but probably not as bad as I imagine.

TRAFFIC JAMS!!!

by kiwi

TRAFFIC JAMS!!! They're everywhere and impossible to escape from once you are in one.A real hazard, and you must allow hours on your time to get to the destination. Especially if that destination is the airport and you have a flight to catch!!!Some local knowledge can help, for times to avoid the worst jams, or for routes that are possibly longer but faster. And remember, taxis are not immune from this problem.

indo no problem

by padangdut

im tired of people who have to consult "their" government about something their own common sense should be able to work out. If youre worrying about your safety, dont go! maybe you will get struck by lightning or run over by a bus, better to stay in and watch TV, theres probably a good show about terrorists.....indonesia rules, you should be so lucky to be buried there.

Don't go to Mother Temple in Bali

by Irene_Ng

Even you bought the tickets to go in the temples, but the people outside the gate won't let you in unless you pay them to take you in. You have to have a guide but no way outside the temple to warn you about this. Even when you bought the admision tickets, no body tells you that you need a guide. After you bought the ticket, you are trapped!! Guides will be surrounding you to take your $$ and take you in.

Arak!

by EricLe_Rouge

This potent distilled spirit is made from rice and fermented molasses. Tourists like to drink arak with Sprite or 7UP. I liked it with all kinds of fruit juices... You sure wake up with a terrible hangover !

Rare rhino.

by EricLe_Rouge

The Sumatran rhino is a two-horned rhino weighing 1000 - 2000 kg (2200 - 4400 lb) and sparsely covered with long, coarse hair. It is found mainly near water in forested areas, often in hill country, where it climbs well. It appears to favor secondary forest where the upper canopy is broken and the smaller shrubs and vines on which it feeds are more numerous. It feeds mostly during the night, browsing on a wide variety of plant material including fruit, leaves, herbaceous growth, shrubs and saplings. Much of the day is spent in wallows. In some areas it exhibits seasonal movements, staying in the hills when the lowlands are flooded and descending when the weather has become cool near the end of the rains. The Sumatran rhino is solitary. Females have relatively stable home ranges, which are large and partially overlapping. Males are more nomadic and wander along stream beds and game...

Be on your guard!Malaria mosquitoes approach you silently, whenever you hear one, it's the ordinary mosquito, no risk involved.Prevent mosquito bites at all times: Wear light coloured clothing, long sleeves and trousers after sunset. Mosquitoes are most active at dusk.Don't wear blue it attracts mosquitoes.Don't use perfum or after shave. Creepy Crawlies

by iwent

The rainforest is hot and humid and teeming with wildlife. It's most unlikely that you will encounter a tiger or an elephant, however you may be 'attacked' by smaller species. It's very important to cover up, in spite of the heat; long sleeves, long trousers. If you don't you'll soon be bitten on all exposed skin. You won't notice but at the end of the day you are all blotchy.Leeches thrive in humid places. They are harmless but a nuissance. They attach themselves firmly to your ankle, make a wound the size of a pinhead and feed on your blood. When they have eaten their fill, and are swollen to at least twice their original size they leave you in peace. They inject you with the anticoagulant hiridun. The wound is no bigger than a pin-prick but it keeps bleeding.wear thick socks, sprayed with insect repellentmake an infusion of tobacco, salt and coconut milk and apply this to your socks and...

How to Attach your Mosquito Net

by iwent

Bring hooks, screws, string anything you think you might need to attach your net. Rarely there is a 'ready-made' hook in the ceiling.Invariably you will have to rearrange the room so that your net covers both beds. Before booking your room see to it that there is enough furniture which you can put on top of each other so that you can reach the ceiling and srew in your hook.Don't ask for a stepladder. They have never heard of it.Bring sticky tape to mend holes in your net.Mosquitoes spend daytime hours in nooks and crannies. So before retiring under your net chase away any mosquito which hid itself beween or under the beds.A fan and aircondition are said to be mosquito repellents. If I were you I'd use a net as well. Better be safe than sorry.
