Sukawati Art Market is one of art markets that are already popular among visitors. Sukawati road-facing market located in the Gianyar Regency has a strategic position as it is passed through during the tour to some destinations to the east. Sukawati art market is close to the village of Celuk, the center of gold & silversmiths.

Buying giveaways to commemorate the holiday has to be a must. So take advantage the holiday time to find out something memorable here. This market is very unique as it is already open in the early morning and visited by both domestic and foreign visitors.

What to buy: It is just like a myriad of art shops that offers wide range of products. Simply one stop-shopping. Many items sold in Kuta or other areas originate from here and are considerably cheaper if bought here. One outlet may provide more than one item, like garments, souvenirs, paintings (framed and unframed), basketry, colorful kites and so on.

What to pay: You will get a new experience in the 'art of buying'. You must bargain the price eventhough the vendor offers you a "morning price." Meaning especially low, to start off the trading daywith a few sales already and make the day a successful one.

It does not mean you have to accept it as it is, it's not a fixed price. If you are good at bargaining you will get the best price you can afford and the vendor keeps "smiling and thanking you". If they don't smile anymore, you know his cost is higher than your offer. Good at bargaining is a bit more than insisting on a price. You need to provide a logical reason why your offer is so low and still should be accepted.

Bali offered plenty of items to buy, especially those that involve artistic skills. We find alot of handicraft items, art, home decor, etc. Afew well-known market such as Ubud market and Sukawati market but be prepared to haggle on the price.

What to pay: Always bargain. Start with 50% off what they offered.

Ibu Suzy or Aunty Suzy sell local product such as necklace, bangles, flower hair clip and etc. I'm not good at bargain so when I buy some hair clip at Tanah Lot the lady charge me 10,000 rupiahs each but Aunty Suzy charge us only 5,000 rupiahs.
She such a nice lady that we spend a long hours at her place and the other seller start to come to her place and ask her something. I ask her what did they said-she said "oh nothing they were just saying that we buy a lot from her".

What to pay: Remember to bargain. All prices can be negotiate to as low as 70% off... And also many fake "Bali beads" are now being produced in other countries (India is the worst offender). These are often cheap imitations that are cast in molds rather than handcrafted. Many Indian-made "Bali beads" are also merely silver plated rather than made of solid silver. So... be careful!
