HOW TO GET THERE? - From Jakarta, take a taxi/hired car from a reputable company (buses and trains are not too safe, being frequented by thieves) for the one and a quarter hour drive along the motorway to Bogor. (Take advice on which taxi firm you use. Some taxi drivers rob tourists.)

By angkot
The easiest way to get around Bogor is by angkot, little green minibuses, hordes of which infest Bogor's central streets.
The downsides to using angkot are that the drivers are reckless and theft is all too common (guard your belongings). Also, some angkot like 02 or 03 only depart from their pangkalan (terminals) when full — 10 minutes on a good day on a busy route, 90 minutes on a bad day on an unpopular one.
By horse carts
Horse carts known as delman can be found in central Bogor and not too bad an option if you want to cruise around and take a look at the city. The poor beasts aren't very comfortable in the traffic scrum though.

The easiest way to get to Bogor is to hire a car and a driver; this is relatively cheap; the journey time is about one hour. There is more than one road to Bogor, and the minor roads are often the most interesting. By toll highway, Bogor is about 40 minutes from Jakarta. During traffic jam (rush hours), it will take 80 to 120 minutes. Many commuters stay in Bogor and work in Jakarta. On weekend and holidays, the trip from Jakarta to Bogor may take up to 3 hours.

The time was a little longer to Bogor from Jakarta vise versa if one take regular train, a non air conditioned train which stop at every station and always crowded not only by passenger but also with a funny thing to experiences inside. There are so many food seller, fruit seller, drink seller, and many others. Another thing that one can enjoy was also a group of music which do their performance inside the train. One thing to remember, take carefull with your belonging , crowded train is an opportunity to one who do a crime on the train

Bogor is located 60 km south of Jakarta, a Pakuan train with run From Jakarta to Bogor is one of a convenient way to reach Bogor, it was an air conditioned express train and will take about an hour up to Bogor because only stop at a certain station. One can take the train from Stasiun KOTA, or from Stasiun JUANDA, or Statsiun GAMBIR with the fare of IDR. 10,000,- (ten thousands rupiah). Horse Buggy!! The buggy sometimes can load six person including Kusir or driver) But concerning power of the horse, I recommend three are maximum. Opposite of Botanical Garden, you can find Delman parking there. Only cover short distance, price starting from Rp 3000 (depends on distance)

Baranang Siang bus station is center where you can take busses linked from Bogor to other cities. Rates and timing are vary. For short distance like Bogor-Jakarta, the buss usually departs on “first full first go” basis. So, if you don’t have much time, take the half full or bus.

My favorite transport when I was in primary school. This small three wheeled transport can carry eight persons including the driver.
When I grew up, this transport becomes least favorite. The mixture of white smoke, noisy engine and vibration are not so comfy. You need to put extra effort if you want to communicate with other passangers or your friend. Bemo only covers short distance with cost start from Rp 1000.

When you enter the city, you will notice that this city is packed with green and blue minibus cars. Public transport, well known as “Angkot” (stands for Angkotan Kota or literally translate as city transport) is a main transport within the city.
Main stations for Angkot are Baranang Siang, Merdeka and Bubulak. The cost is vary to Rp 1200 to 2000 (more if you take farer route)
You can hail angkot wherever you are. Many times they are willing to drive backward to the place where you stand (and this habit is one of the causes of packed traffic!!)
Be ready for small changes, when you take this public transportation.

Moj lyubimij Dimka ever told me, "Going to Bogor at the weekend using private car means crazy!" Yeah, no wonder, since this city is the closest vacation city for Jakarta (comparing with Bandung). So, heavy traffic can be happened at Jagorawi free-way, on Friday-Saturday-Sunday.
The solution; you can chose train 'Pakuan'. It's a modern-cool-nice train, made-in Japan. The price is Rp 5,000 per trip. Only takes 1,5 hours to reach Bogor from Jakarta.
