    Making friends

by RoyJava Updated Jun 27, 2005

Even the whole world is getting concerned about smoking a cigarette, Indonesian people love ngobrol (having a chat) and, when once familiar with tourists, smoke a kretek (Indonesia's indigenous clove cigarette, and part of their culture and traditions).

by RoyJava Written Mar 6, 2005
    ngobrol-chat-pangandaran-westjava

Indonesian people love to talk when once familiar with tourists. The "ngobrol-ngobrol" style of speech is a superb example of pure and simple, with the aim of "telling it like it is", without overdoing.

These people love their stories "ngobrol-ngobrol" style, which is the way they normally communicate in daily life. Sitting on the ground or "jongkok" (squatting down) it sounds so nice when they say "Saya senang ngobrol sama kamu.", which means "I feel good to chat with you." ...
