Luggage and bags: Leaving your big backpack in the hotel, motel, losman wherever... bring a city backpag to travel around. A belly-belt will keep your travel-informations ...
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Lightweight cotton clothing, a nice shirt for the evenings. Good footwear, hat, sunglasses. The waves always cause humidity, so don't dry your clothes at the balcony ... they will be ruined.
NO COLOUR OF GREEN !!!
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Sun-protection cream, and tissues, (wet towels). Be aware that the locals clean themselves by water-in-a-bottle (bottol cebok), so bring your own toilet-paper, if not used to that.
Get info about hepatitis, dengue & malaria fevers (includes some parts for Japanese encephalitis, and take care of cholera, transmitted by water), so get the shots.
Photo Equipment: Bring extra battries, and digital memory as its hard to find these items locally. Fuji is the best you can get there (supply is rather new, others could have been damaged by sun-heat).
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Have a supply of sun-protection cream, first and foremost.
The ocean mostly moistens the beach continuously by violent waves. So the sand won't stick at your body, not that necessarily sitting on a towel ... enjoy the cooling humidity.
Miscellaneous: Always pay respect to local people and their traditional way of life. The locals are really friendly, so get ready for lots of articulate arm waving and general non-linguistic conversation. They love visitors,... and you are one!

Karang Aji beach at Pelabuhan Ratu is the best beach around. It's a secluded beach with perfect waves and spectacular view. It's where the ocean meets with the green rice field! I love this place!
