Mawar Restaurant: Best fish resto in town
One day Mr Nurdin, head of the Bima Tourist Office, invited us for dinner at Mawar Restaurant (Mawar means Rose). According to him the best fish restaurant in town, and if anyone he should know!
The restaurant is not for the less agile. It is located on a cliff facing Bima Bay, south of town. One has to place one's orders at the counter below before climbing a flight of many stairs. The waiters do not carry the plates up and down. Instead they stay upstairs and haul the food up by way of a manually operated lift.
Our dinner was animated by live Bima style violin music, the aged musician playing on a fine instrument he made himself.
