    An afternoon stroll...

Gili Meno is a small island - you can walk around it in an hour. A walk around the island in the late afternoon before dinner is easy on the well-defined sand tracks or time your walk so you can have a drink at one of the warung along the south west coast and watch the sun go down.

Snorkelling off the north-east coast of Gili Meno

I went snorkelling off the north-east coast early one morning. Perhaps it was the visibility, but it was definitely the best of the four snorkelling areas I tried. There wasn't a huge range of coral, and still a considerable amount of damaged coral, but there was a variety of interesting fish - see my photos in a 'favorites' tip.
The friendly people at Ya Ya Warung are happy to look to after your belongings while you are in the water.

Snorkelling off the south-west of Gili Meno

The friendly people at the old Art shack on the south-east tip of Gili Meno suggested I try snorkelling off the south-west coast near the former Bounty Resort. I walked around the southern tip to the west - it is probably the quietest section of the island - and came to Two Brother cafe. Very welcoming people there, quite happy to look after my bag, and pointed me in the best direction for snorkelling.
While the coral has taken a bit of a beating, there were large numbers of fish around the collapsed piers of the Bounty Resort. Hopefully in a few years here will be even greater numbers and a regeneration of coral.
There are plans for part of this section of coast to be a 'protected area' which is great and may see a re-emergence of more cora and fish.

Snorkelling off the south-east of Gili Meno

Morning provides good visibility in the waters off the south-east of Gili Meno. Leave your stuff in the care of the friendly people at the old Art shop and have a cup of coffee with them later - wonderful people.
I found the snorkelling off the south-east much better than the north-west (which I had been told was the best). Perhaps it was the visibility or that the sea was much calmer, not sure. Still not terrible good in terms of coral but a few vivid clams.

Snorkelling off the north-west of Gili Meno

I had been told that the snorkelling in the waters around Gili Meno was really good. Some years ago I had been to Gili Air and enjoyed snorkelling there, so I was looking forward to Gili Meno. I purposely chose accommodation in the north-west corner, as I had been told that was where the best snorkelling is.
I'd have to say, I was disappointed. There is very little living coral at snorkelling depth. There is a lot of coral rubble, a few fish, but nothing like I had hoped. Compared to the snorkelling I had recently done in Sumbawa, there was a distinct lack of color.
