A trip by Bus or by minivan from Lombok island to Sumbawa island vise verse now is a convenience one, the bus and minivan were air conditioned and the trip would crossing Sumbawa straits from Kayangan seaport on Lombok island by a ferry to Pototano seaport on Sumbawa island vise verse.

The bus and minivan fare is including a ferry ride ticket, if in a good weather condition, it would takes less than 2 hours crossing the strait of Sumbawa with its nice view of mount Rinjani and other small island lies between both of these island, if we are lucky we could see a very nice scenery of sunset.

Crossing by ferry from Lombok to Sumbawa is easy. There is an around the clock service from Labuan Lombok harbour to Poto Tano harbour on Sumbawa, leaving roughly every hour. Labuan Lombok is located in a bay enclosed by a sandy peninsula, Tanjung Kayangan. Poto Tano too lies sheltered by a peninsula and a couple of islands.

On arrival at Labuan Lombok we could board with our car immediately, no waiting time. The crossing took 70 minutes and cost Rp 379,000 for car including passengers (July 2011). It was the same on our return journey.
If you cross by bus the fare is included in the bus ticket, and for a single pedestrian the fare was about Rp 18,000.
