dare yourself to eat where the locals eat, small warung at the street with only maybe 8 seats
it can get crowded on busy hours, so you have to wait more than 30 minutes.
the cook is from the java island, i think he moved to sumbawa about 8 - 10 years ago

what i like in here are the Mix Fried Noddle [yellow egg noddle n white noddle] and "Nasi Mawut" [its fried rice combined with fried noddle]. Mawut are originally javanese word for messy or chaotic, so its a chaotic combination of rice and noddles.

And also, i always order with extra egg in my dish, because one egg is not enough for me, two is definetly better

The price are between 12.000 IDR to 15.000 IDR

Favorite Dish: Definetly Mix Fried Noddle and Nasi Mawut

Gado Gado street vendor in Sumbawa Besar

Sumbawa Besar is not the place for expensive restaurants but this doesn't mean there aren't culinary delights to enjoy.
Every night street vendors set up selling a wide range of local cuisine. On Jalan Cendrawasih between Jalan Kebayan and the roundabout with Jalan Garuda street vendors set up shop from late afternoon selling dishes of fish, chicken, vegetables and roti bakar.
On my last night in Sumbawa Besar, Eric from Ciptisari Rumah Makan & Toko Roti took me to one of his favorite street stalls to try Sumbawean style gado gado. What a treat! At less than rp 10,000 (US$ 1) you couldn't ask for better. Obviously rated highly amongst the locals as the delightful lady who prepared the meals was constantly busy.
It just confirms that you don't need to go to the most upmarket restaurants to get great food.

We were looking for a place to have lunch on the way from Sumbawa Besar to Dompu. Fortunately a couple from Banyuwangi on Java ran a warung in Empang, half way between the two towns.
Although it was the muslim fasting month, they served a tasty soto kambing with sate for Rp 10,000 (July 2011).
