This picture of the restaurant was taken from the footbridge Jembatan Limpapen. Bedudal is in the foreground on the right. Pasta Nepolitan & garlic bread, with tea and orange juice (at Rp 41,000)more
This place is very nice for dining in terms of its price and quailty. Its old-fashioned style decorated looks really Southeast Asian, or more specifically Indonesian, but often Western or foreign customers are main stream of the profit. It locates in the very touristic centre of the town, within few minutes walk, customers can easily see everything...more
I had dinner everyday during my stay in Bukittinggi. It's just a small old restaurant - probably one of the oldest in town. However, they have quite a lot of options in the menu and everything I ordered were very good. It's also quite cheap. The "babi kecap" (pork with sweet soy sauce) is very good!more

West Sumatra is one of the dimmest places in the world. Normally, it doesn't rain in the day, but in the afternoon, it POURS within a few seconds. So get yourself an unbralla, or ready to get sodden.

Interior of the traditional house or rumah adat. It's actually a single, huge common room with separate rooms or compartments at the back of the house. So the entire...more
When I was around Bukittinggi I saw many small rivers very inviting for wild water rafting.
Now I heard that local tour operators organize rafting excursions on the rivers sprouting from crater lakes Maninjau and Singkarak . Only for experienced people, anyway.
Amazed by all the newfound variety on the menus at restaurants in Bukittinggi, I eagerly ordered the 'taco' and waited in anticipation of a meal that did not involve fried rice OR fried noodles. I was quite surprised to see that what came out of the kitchen beared no resemblance to the Mexican variety of a taco, but it wasn't nasi goreng so I...more
