Depart For Hiking Lawu Volcano From Jogja or Solo

Lawu Volcano is one of old volcanoes of Java, Indonesia. Located at border between two regions of Java Island, East Java and Central Java, Indonesia. The volcanoes has many peaks due to erosion effect, but the highest one is 3265 m .To hike up summit, there are many hiking trails head for the highest summit, but popular ones are hiking trail of CEMORO SEWU, CEMORO KANDANG and CETHO. These hiking trails are accessible 3 hours from Yogyakarta city or 2 hours from Solo by private car (traffic and road conditions effect the drive ) Starting point of CEMORO SEWU Hiking Trail is located at East Java.The trail is well trodden, not slipper, and considered very suitable for most tourist. Length of trek is approx 7,6 km, angel steepness of the trail is vary from flat to 45 degrees. I recommend some locations for this challenging sport in yogyakarta: ParangDog cliff location,Siung Cliff location, Seropan cliff location,WatuKotak location, and Samigaluh cliff location. For independent travelers, don't forget to bring your standard sport rock climbing gear:Climbing shoes,harness, chalk bag plus chalk, belay device, climbing rope (cornmantel rope), quickdrow/runners. Also bring your climbing partner to belay you as no belayer service available at each cliff location.
