BUS

When you see a green color bus, it's Trans Jogja!
A very cheap transportation to go around Yogyakarta city.
It costs only 1,500 rupiah@person (1 USD = 8,900 rupiah/November 2010).
There is a bus stop in the location of Adisucipto International Airport.
Asked someone there where you can find Trans Jogja, and they will show you the location of the bus stop.
From Adisutjipto, you can go to Malioboro (West route) or Prambanan (East Route).

You could take a TAKSAKA, ARGO LAWU, ARGO DWIPANGGA executive air conditioned morning train or an evening train from JAKARTA GAMBIR Train station to YOGYAKARTA TUGU Train station, would take 7 hours, but sometime will take 9 hours, the fare in week days is a little bit cheaper than in the weekend, it was in the range of Rp 220,000,- to Rp 280,000,- (US.D 22 to 28), you would better to take a morning train scheduled at about 07.00 am or 08.00 am.
From Yogyakarta TUGU train station, go out toward Malioboro street(yogya main thoroughfare), it was just 10 minutes walking distance to HOTEL IBIS YOGYA at the left lane side of Malioboro street (No. 52-58 phone +62274516974) just beside MALIOBORO MALL. or there were many budget Hotels (US.D 10 to 20) at the small street PUJOKUSUMAN located at the left side of MALIOBORO MALL
You could take SANCAKA train from YOGYA-TUGU STATION to SURABAYA-GUBENG TRAIN STATION it will take 6 hours YOGYA-SURABAYA with the fare Rp 75,000 to Rp 125,000 executive class air.cond or Rp 55,000 to Rp 80,000 business class fan,
the morning train is 07.00 am and evening train is 03.30 pm (15.30), would be better take a morning train, from Surabaya Gubeng train station, it was just 5 to 10 minutes walking distance to SAHID HOTEL Jl Pemuda Surabaya, close to Plaza Surabaya, or in a rather far away 20 minutes walking distance to HOTEL INNA SIMPANG at Jl. Gubernur Suryo 1-3 phone +62315342151-9(hunting) a nice and decent hotel I ever stayed, close to TUNJUNGAN Plaza.
From Surabaya Gubeng train station you could take a morning train MALANG EXPRESS (10.00 am, please check while you are at the station)which would take two hours to Malang Train Station with the fare of Rp 10,000 to Rp 20,000 (Malang was 90 km southern of Surabaya). Malang train station was situated in front of TUGU MALANG and it was just 5 minutes walking distance to TUGU MALANG, where TUGU MALANG was Malang City ground zero at jalan Trunojoyo.
Along Jalan (street) Trunojoyo there were a few decent hotel and a few cafe. Kartika Kusuma Hotel with Java Dancer Coffee shop, face to face with MODENA HOTEL, the fare of both hotel were about US.D 20 to 40, there were also TUGU HOTEL, SPLENDID HOTEL, at the same street and all just 10 minutes walking distance from Malang train station, please look and decide in which hotel you would stay.
The way back to Surabaya you could take A bus from Malang bus station with the fare of Rp 15,000 (gain an information from your hotel how to get there)to Surabaya BUNGURASIH bus station then take a taxi with the fare Rp 50,000,- to SURABAYA JUANDA AIRPORT, or from Malang you could take the same train to Surabaya GUBENG train station, then take a taxi to Surabaya JUANDA Air Port. Beware !! Spare much time from GUBENG to Airport, Surabaya traffic was a terribly very very crowded
Have a nice trip to Indonesia. Regard from Gani Bogor Indonesia

olenx profile photo
olenx 28 reviews

In Yogyakarta I see almost every day on my way back from my office a / some foreign visitor go around the city by Motorcycle. In Yogya city, motorcycle can be rented by visitor on a daily or weekly basis. For independent traveler, Motorcycle is one of the best alternative to go around and discover deeper the city of Yogyakarta Special Region .Now, the rental price is depending on the bike brand, and its condition, but expect to pay any where Rp 100.000,- pe-rday, or Rp 150.000,-for two days. Maliaboro and Prawirotaman are popular location for motorcycle rent. For foreign visitor, don't forget to bring passport and international driving licenses as it's recommended when you need to rent a motorcycles. And for domestic visitor, don't forget to bring ID Card.

Yogyakarta to Bali (Denpasar) by bus
bkarjee profile photo
bkarjee 377 reviews

The bus journey from Jogja to Denpasar (Bali)is a long one and can take upto 16-18 hrs. You have a choice of buses available-from cheap to luxury airconditioned bus options. Go for the luxury (A/C bus) option. The bus will go from Jogja to the port city of Nganjuk/Ketapang near Surabaya in eastern Java and then the bus will be loaded onto a ferry which will crossover to Gilimanuk port city of Bali (this happens in the night time). The total one way cost of the luxury bus from Jogja to Denpasar was IDR 120,000 in May 2007.
Once your bus sets off in bali, the drive is excellant (early morning hours) and within an hour or so, you will be in Denpasar. Most of the Indonesians will travel by this route to Bali.
