The locals are inadvertently curious and would not hesitate to chat with you if you show any signs of friendliness. My group have had peple coming up to us to ask us where we were from, where we were going as we walk along Jalan Malioboro. By all means, chat. The joy of travelling is about meeting people and learning new cultures. However, there should always been a warning at the back of your head against anyone who tried to sweet-talk you into anything.

Not rrally a danger, but it can destroy your nice evening in Jalan Malioboro. Normally i enjoy some group or individual pengamen, street singer. But it could be so annoying other times, when they sing out loud in a full team band, with a new hard song. I prefer to have old javanese musicians in traditional instrument accompanied with a beautiful sinden (javanese singer). Not too load, unique, enjoyable and entertaining. If you eat in Lesehan Malioboro, get prepare for some coin for them.

Beware in front of Stasiun Toegoe area, in the mouth of Jalan Malioboro. People are so 'friendly' to everybody that just arrive. Luggage and bagages are the signs of fresh coming. So better beware: pickpocketing and mistaking of lugages.

There is a fans around the temples.
So don't be dispointed it by it.
The damage is great and you can see it with your bare eyes.
