  • Pack lightly!! Taxis from the international airports are expensive. In most train stations; porters are scarce as are escalators and elevators. The less you have with you the easier your trip will be!

Except in the heat of August, when it's always hot and muggy, the temperature is unpredictable. In spring and altumn, you'll need a jacket or sweater. In June-July it is rainy season , it can be cool and rainy or warm and rainy, so make sure you have a light jacket and folding umbrella. Summer is hot and humid, but you may need a light jacket to prevent yourself from freezing in air-conditioned hotels and restaurants! You'll need a fairly heavy coat in the winter since it can snow in Nagoya. Comfortable walking shoes are a must and slip-ons are highly recommended.

Camera film purchased at a discount electronics shop is one of the few things cheaper in Japan. Throw away cameras are also readily available.

  • Make sure you have plenty of room in your suitcase. There are tons of great deals in Nagoya's shopping district, Ossu-Kannon.

Bring comfortable shoes. There will be a lot of walking to do if you can't afford a cab.

If you have a digital camera and always wanted to make prints, Japan is the cheapest place to do it. At any Fuji shop a print is only about 20 yen and will be ready the next day.
