karubi and bibinba by cvilla007 Yaki-niku is barbecue, pure and simple. It first came over from Korea, but the Japanese have perfected it. If you don't like meat, read no further. Yaki-niku is raw meat they serve to you, and you cook it at your table. I found a great restaurant near Nagoya Station. There are three other locations in the city.
Karubi is the best. It's beef and there are two kinds. One is sliced thinly while the other is a chunk. Delicious. Hmmmmmm. Another great choice is Bibinba. It's rice with yaki-niku, spinach, and spices that's truly tasty. Nothing quite like it back home. Mmm! Tebasaki! (wings) by niko2x In Japan, a lot of times we would just go to the "Izakaya" is kind of equivalent to the Pubs/Bars. But a lot of the Izakaya's tries to specialize in "what-they-are-known-for". in Nagoya, there is the local chain Izakaya known as "the world famous, Yama-chan". (世界のì65;ちゃん)
Their tebasaki, which is a special spiced chicken wings is unworldly good. You can pound beers and eat these things all night. If you can read Japanese, here is their home page: http://msaiyo.jp/yama/ Leave a Comment

by cvilla007 Yamachan has the best tebasaki. Don't know what tebasaki is? Well, you haven't tried it yet. It's fried chicken wings dusted with pepper. Delicious. Look for the sign everywhere. There are four restaurants within a rock's throw from where I live in Meieki, downtown Nagoya. Beware that you'll have probably have to wait in line as all the restaurants I've seen are far too small for their demand.
Tebasaki. They also have the usual sort of izakaya (Japanese bar) food. Lots of food and drinks to choose from. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageDirections: They're everywhere. Look at the website for more info. Sorry, it's in Japanese, but try to remember the kanji, or just ask for directions by saying, "sumimasen, yamachan wa doco des ka?" Anyone you ask should be able to point you in the right direction.Website: http://www.yamachan.co.jp/index.html

Nikomi Udon by wathy a famous local dish in Nagoya. You seldom can find this dish out from Nagoya. Nikomi Udon taste different with other udon in Japan. This kind of Udon's soup is a little bit sweet. Yamamotoya is the most famous Nikomi Udon Rest. in Nagoya. You have to queue for entering this shop. This laid-back cafe bar is one of the best places in town to spend an evening if you are into rock music, Tex-Mex a la Californian border cuisine and beer. It offers eight kinds of soft tacos and three kinds of hard tacos for between JPY300 and JPY400. And it has an incredible array of beers, over 100 different brews, that start from JPY450. Go with a group of friends and enjoy the conversation or go alone and watch the rock videos while you enjoy the food and drink. The epitome of ethnic cuisine, Raffles was founded a decade ago by an expatriate Englishman who had traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia before settling in Japan. His original shop, a little off the beaten path, proved so successful he was able to build his own place in a more convenient location. The various dishes, with origins from Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, etc., are all authentic, delicious and spicy: the owner maintains a garden of spices he raises himself. Each dish is prepared with care, so they occasionally take time, but the wait is well worth it. Leave a Comment
