The very convenient (for the people living in the area) Nagoya International Airport has regular flights to London, Frankfurt and Amsterdam in Europe; Detroit, Los Angeles, and Vancouver in America; and several destinations in east and southeast Asia and Australia.

Express bus from Nagoya station to the airport is Y870 and it takes 30 minutes. Airport tax (included in the ticket) is Y 750.

The port of Nagoya has ferry conections to almost everywhere in Japan, including Hokkaido.

They have an airport there and major stops on National train lines.
Subway - always on time, every few minutes, very fast. Otherwise taxi.
