Bus Line To Korankei starts from Higashi Okazaki
    3 more images

Meitetsu Higashi Okazaki station is one of the gateway to Korankei, one of the most popular autumn leaves sites in Japan. The bus to Korankei takes about one hour(during autumn leaves season maybe 2-3 hours) and to see the Korankei gorge views exit at KORANKEI bus stop. Asuke town has some interesting places to see other than the gorge, and I will introduce them in my Toyota page later. To avoid heavy traffic during peak season, the best way is to avoid weekends and National Holidays during mid November to early December. Bus fee is 800 yen for adult(12 or over) and 400 yen for children(under 12).

**Additional buses are run for Korankei until December 2 in 2012 season.

    Getting to Okazaki Castle

    by taigaa001 Updated Dec 1, 2011
    First, find Oto River

To get to the Okazaki Castle, the best place to start is from Meitetsu Higashi Okazaki station where also super express trains stop. To get to Higashi Okazaki Station from JR Shinkansen Express or local train, change trains either at Toyohashi(From Eastern part of Japan, such as Hamamatsu, Hakone, Kamakura, Tokyo and Nikko) and Nagoya from western parts of Japan such as Gifu, Takayama, Hikone, Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe). After exiting from North exit of the Higashi Okazaki station first go northward to find Oto River. After reaching the bridge of Oto river go down the road along the river and go downstream. After about ten minutes walk you will find a bridge where a lot of wildbirds are approaching. Cross the Chinsuibashi bridge and reach the other side of the riverbank. You will soon find the entrance of Okazaki castle and a nice red-railed bridge. From Higashi Okazaki station to Okazaki Castle donjon it will take about twenty minutes on foot.

Incidentally, Rokusho Shrine is only five minutes on foot from Higashi Okazaki station south exit. If you have time also get there before visiting Okazaki Castle.
