Handa serves as the base for Southern Chita Peninsula sightseeing. The bus service is available from both Chubu International (Centrair) Airport and Tokoname station. The line runs one or two bus service an hour. It takes about 30 to 35 minutes to Handa. But the catch is the bus line links to Meitetsu line Chitahanda station and JR Handa station is about 500 meters apart from Meitetsu Chita Handa station. Practically using Meitetu line is a lot convenient when sightseeing in Chita Peninsula. From Handa you can choose a wide variety of options to enjoy the trips to south part of Chita Peninsula. Popular destinations include the island hopping cruise of Shinojima and Himakashima Islands or Spa resort of Utsumi.
Local people, however, take seemingly roundabout route to change trains at Otagawa and change trains for Kowa line. In that way you may have less waiting time and save money as well if you are going southmost areas of Chita Peninsula.

To get to Tokoname from Hamamatsu(Toyohashi, Shizuoka, Kamakura, Yokohama, and Tokyo), get off at Toyohashi and change trains to Meitetsu line. Then change trains again at KANAYAMA where trains to Chubu Centrair Airport depart. You can take any types of train but Super Express train is the fastest way. It takes about 25 minutes from Kanayama to Tokoname. If you use Shinkansen bullet train changing trains at Nagoya and take Meitetsu Tokoname line is a lot faster.
If you take local JR train from Hamamatsu change trains at Kanayama and take Meitetsu Tokoname line just the same way as mentioned above.

Visiting two major ceramic towns rivaling for the best Manekineko (Beckoning, Lucky cats) town can be a bright idea. Particularly if you like cats rather than dogs. Start from Meitetu Tokoname Line TOKONAME station. First get the train bound for Nagoya and then change train at KANAYAMA to take CHUO LINE. Then at OZONE station change train again to MEITETSU SETO LINE. Owariseto station is a final destination. Maneki-neko Museum is about ten minutes from the Owariseto station.
It will take more than one hour but doable trip.
