Togakushi village is famous for soba noodle, it's made from buckwheat. Nagano pref has many places where the buckwheat is grown. It's made for not only noodle, but tea, cookie, even ice cream (only Nagano area)!! I want to say is that it's different from another area's one. It's REAL SOBA in NAGANO!
Favorite Dish: Soba Topping with sansai (mushroom etc), tempura.
You can choice hot or cold one.

Asian paraphanelia decorates the walls of this cozy, busy restaurant. Service is slow, as all food is cooked to order, but the staff is very nice (and they speak some English) and the food is great.
Favorite Dish: I haven't had anything I didn't like..Try some of their chicken dishes, or stop by for the set lunch.

Q: Is it also possible to see the monkeys in the summer or is it a waste of time to go to this area in June/July?

A: Seems that the park rangers bait them to come down in summer too for the tourists :) http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e6025.html
