Legend had it that a married princess from Kyoto, began writing on strips of paper, of her feeling of homesickness, and hanging them on the green bamboo.
In the Yuzawa city centre, streets are hung with coloured lanterns, all depicting beauties and the green bamboo ornaments.

Oyasu-kyo, river side walk, in the oyasu-kyo ravine.
Along the river, hot spring water gushes out of the crevices of the hill sides, some comes out as hot air jets, some forms into water falls.
One reaches the river by crossing the road from the car park, descend the steps. the river side is paved, so it's very safe to walk, and enjoy the sencery.
There is a bright red bridge spans accross the valley. A vantage point for taking fantastic photograph.

If you are too shy to try the onsens, than please at least try the numerous foot onsen dotted around the district.
They are mostly found just outside the onsen establishment.
Most of them are free, or for a little donation towards the up keep of the foot baths.
There are also some hot springs for drinking, for longevity !
I came across one that claim to have curative effect for eyes !
