TOWADA-KO situated in between Aomori, Akita and Iwate Prefectures.
A caldera lake, it's symbol is a statue of two maidens, situated on the southern shore.
A dramatic 9 km Oirase Gorge to the east of the shore, hiking along the 14 km Oirase Valley Nature trail, along the lakeshore, takes about 3 hours.
