Any local looking restaurant: Go local for a true Japanese experience
To really experience good food, go local. Dont go into glitzy neon signed main street places. Get off the high street (or out of the city) and look for small restaurant with little noren(split curtains) across the door. Go in - one of two things will happen- you will be asked to leave or welcomed warmly.
"totomo oishii tabemono o kudasai"
very delicious food please
"o susume wa nan des ka"
what do you recommend?
are useful phrases.
Set a price. 3000Yen will be more than enough in a local place.
This is the best way to get good food.
Favorite Dish: O cha zuki (rice based soup like dish)
yaki tori (chicken on sticks)
sashimi (raw fish)
sashimori (a selection of sashimi )
nabe (winter food- like a stew which you cook on the table)
soba noodles (hot in winter cold in summer)
Let's try to eat...
Let's try to eat Toshikoshi-Soba or Buckwheat noodles (Japanese people eat when the end of the year for happiness) ,Tako-Yaki (Octopus is contained!) , buttered potatoes ,and burnt corn. You can find food anywhere you are in Shrine.
Speakeasy is owned operated by Paul (E/J speaking Australian) and Shenji (E/J speaking Japanese). It is an amazing place to hang out. It is frequented by both Westerners and anglophile locals. The menu consists of a variey of food and drinks from the 4 big English speaking countries, as well as Japanese favorites. Monday is Meat Pie Night, and Paul will even sell homesick North Americans boxes of Kraft Mac & Cheese for 250 yen each.
Favorite Dish: Guinnes (on tap!) and Fried Chicken!
GAJALU INDIAN RESTAURANT: GAJALU RESTAURANT FOR THE REAL INDIAN TASTE
Gajalu Restaurant in Yayoicho 4-1, Inage-Ku, Chiba Shi, Chiba Ken,Japan is a very good Indian Restaurant. It is just infront of the Chiba University gate. It has a sister branch in Chubakimori, Chiba-shi. The food was great always. It was very crowded at the lunch hour. Service was good and the people were speaking english that was good for me because I didn`t have good knowledge of Japaneese language. Naan, Tandoori chicken and curries were really delicious and the price was cheap. To enjoy Indian food, I would like to recommend anyone to go there after 3 pm. It is open continously from 10:30 am to 11 pm. Everything makes you happy in this restaurant.
Favorite Dish: Tandoori chicken, Nepali Beer, Indian Beer and set menu were delicious and cheap. Butter Chicken with Naan (Indian Bread) was fantastic.
