Mexican cart

At the Lost River Delta are a number of great foor outlets. In the previous tip, I mentioned the food cart Expedition Eats - where we tried the Yucatan Sausage Rolls.
Well, after exploring the ruins with Indiana Jones, I was really hungry so we had a bite to eat at the Yucatan Base Camp Grill. The smell of the food here was so delicious, how could anyone resist? They had delightful barbequed meats, fresh salads and delicious looking deserts (which I was too full to try). The staff are dressed in a Tex-Mex style and add to the Mexican theme.

exploring with Indiana Jones

Those who have seen the Indiana Jones Adventure Movies would love this place. It has an authentic looking tall Mayan (?) Temple set beside the meandering river. The attention to detail is fabulous - with tropical trees, wild orchids (!), chirping of tropical birds (although I didn't actually see any), and large fire torches.

I enjoyed the Indiana Jones Adventure ride quite a bit - it did shake me up a bit. (haha). If I am not wrong, I did try out a similar ride at Disneyland LA when I was there years ago.

One of the best things here was the food cart in front of the temple of the Crystal Skull. Check out the Yucatan Sausage Rolls that were sold at Expedition Eats-they were cheap and delicious!

Meet Jasmine & Aladdin at Tokyo DisneySea

me and Jasmine

There are seven major ports of call at Disney Sea. If you have young kids with you, they will enjoy the Arabian Coast and Mermaid Lagoon.

At the Arabian Coast, you can sail on a boat with Sinbad the Sailor as he sets out on his voyage to explore the mysteries of the unknown sea. Or join the beautiful two-level carousel, that features elephants, horses and even the wise blue Genie from the famous animated movie, Aladdin.

To rest your tired feet, why not drop in to the Magic Lamp Theatre for a light show that has a cast of dancing magicians?

The Aladdin's Whole New World live show that takes place at the Mediterranean Harbour was on from May till August 2005, but unfortunately, we missed the performance due to lack of time.

The Mediterranean Harbour

Upon entering DisneySea and past the huge fountain with the rotating Globe on it (see my cover pics), and if you don't get distracted by any wandering live Disney Characters, you will soon find yourself in an amazingly realistic mediterranean town.

As you walk down the cobblestones, you will feel like you have been transported to Venice or some other European town! The walls of the buildings have been done up in bright yellow and golden shades, with authentic looking trelises and flower filled balconies. Quite a few shops, bakeries and restaurants are housed within these buildings.

Just how authentic?
When I showed my friend a photo of the Mediterranean Harbour at Tokyo DisneySea, she said: Oh, when did you go to Venice? I thought you had gone to Tokyo?

The picture shows me posing with the Genie from Aladdin who is pretending to be a Venetian Gondolier!

Journey to the Centre of the Earth

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Details from Jules Verne's science fiction novel, Journey to the Centre of the Earth feature strongly in the set for this ride.

Located at the port called the Mysterious Island, this is the BEST & MOST POPULAR RIDE in DisneySea. The set is very authentic, and as you descend the inner bowels of the earth, with full sound, smoke and eerie air effects, you will feel an increase in your level of excitement. Mums & dads, don't worry too much, it is dark, but not too scary. If your kids pass the height requirements, do allow them to join in.

You and them will have the time of your life! I won't say too much, in order not to be a spoiler. :D

Insider tip: For thrill seekers, try to get a seat in the front seat of each little car. I think there were 4-5 seats in each car, and two to three per row. As it was not crowded that Friday that we were there, we were allowed a bit of choice and managed to get a front row seat.

WORLD'S LARGEST UNDER SEA TUNNEL...

aqualine

This is not really a tourist attraction but I have been thru it a few times...Its very interesting the feeling you get going thru the under water tunnel..

The Trans-Tokyo Bay Motorway named the Tokyo Bay Aqualine, its a toll highway (COST, 3000yen ONE WAY)that spans the narrowest gap of Tokyo Bay, opened to traffic in December 1997 after 31 years of studies with a total cost of 1.44 trillion yen (11,077 million dollars)

The 15-kilometer expressway, connecting Kisarazu City of Chiba Prefecture and Kawasaki City of Kanagawa Prefecture, makes it possible to leave the traffic jam of tokyo bay area behind.

Of the total length, 4.4 kilometers from the Kisarazu side is a bridge and 9.5 kilometers from the Kawasaki side is an undersea tunnel, which is the world's longest undersea tunnel, running 60 meters deep under the surface of the water.

Before the completion of the Aqualine, there were 2 ways to cross the cities ,
1.- driving between Kisarazu City and Kawasaki City 100 kilometers along the coastline of Tokyo Bay
or 2.- taking a ferry for an hour..

Now the Aqualine connects the two cities in about 15 minutes..

Get, ge, get, ge, get, ge, get, get DOWN

We went to a really cool beach party at Nakasato.

There was lots of sun, sea, alcohol, a skateboarding competition taking place and dancing accompanied by a day of live music.

I felt that I had stepped into a world where I felt comfortable!
