Choshi Local Customs

We encountered motorbike gangs typical of the Chiba-Ibaragi area, whose motorbiking style seems not to have changed for the past 30 years, in which the steering handles are deep set, and the long-backed seats are intricately decorated, with modified (rather non-existent?) mufflers. The riders journey in lots of dozens or hundreds of people. A typical way they celebrate the New Year's Holidays is to ride on the motorways dodging the fares sometimes in the middle of the night who are sometimes arrested at the exits. Sometimes drink driving or drugs driving is involved. Unlawfully modified vehicles (especially involving the noise level of the mufflers) usually indicate the gang type as opposed to the enthusiasts who enjoy their motorbikes following the vehicle regulations.
