Narita Airport from the inside looks relatively easy top negotiate, but once you get out, be prepared for miles of barbed wire fences, security guards, video camera's and a long walk if like me you get lost on the outside.
There are quite a few hotels offering free hotel shuttles to the nearby hotels. It is easy to get to the hotels in about 15 minutes from the airport, any time of day. When wanting to go see Tokyo, it's a good idea to grab a shuttle back to the airport and take te NEX (Narita Express) train to Tokyo. That's about 1 hour. One way. But you get from the doorstep of your hotel to the central Tokyo in less than 1.5hours.

To transport you between Narita's two terminals there are busses. If you are lucky you will get a seat, if not just stand. These busses also transport you to and from the plane.
