Walk at the Mount Fuji (13.45-14.15) – half an hour walking

Mount Fuji - Lake Kawaguchi (14.15-14.50)
Walk around Lake Kawaguchi (14.50-16.50) – two hours walking.

Sugahara asked to show this plan to a ticket counter

A boat cruise from one end of the lake to the other takes roughly 30 minutes and costs 970 yen one way!. Shinkansen to Tokyo

by machomikemd Updated Apr 4, 2011

    the shinkansen
    4 more images

the "bullet train" ride to tokyo. the original High speed train that was copied by the TGV of France, Mag Lev of Shanghai and others. The Shinkansen network boasts not only high speed -up to 300 kilometers per hour-, but also high frequency. For example, at least six trains per hour (not per day!) operate between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka Stations during daytime hours. Although the phrase 'bullet train' is popular overseas, in Japan you will only see Shinkansen on English signs. But no matter what you call it, the Shinkansen network will be your key to comfortable and speedy travel throughout Japan. they have 3 classifications namely : Nozomi trains stop only at the most important stations, and reach Osaka from Tokyo in about two and a half hours. The nozomi is one of the very few trains on the JR network that cannot be used with the Japan Rail Pass. Hikari trains stop a little bit more frequently than nozomi trains, and need roughly three hours to reach Osaka from Tokyo. On the Sanyo Shinkansen, the Hikari trains are known as "Hikari Railstar". The slowest category. Kodama trains stop at all stations and is the cheapest!. the price of a bullet train ticket is as expensive as an airline ticket!

I nice way to relax while on a holiday here is to take the boat cruise at the Kawaguchi lake, and if the weather will be sunny and clear it should be fantastic for photographing and you might have a chance to have a clear view of the Fuji mountain.

If you have the JR pass as we did, you can also use for free the JR Bus line to travel short distances in the region. Note that those buses are not that frequent and might not go to the destination you need and you might need to take alternative bus company line which is cost.

There is the cable car that will take you up the hill to where you can have a nice view of the Fuji mountain. However, the chances that you will have a clear view of the mountain is very slim is it intend to be cloudy and foggy around it.
Alternative, you can also hike up and hill, will take about an hour easy walk.

the odawara station, the gateway to Hakone and Mount Fuji, the station serves as either a starting point or the end point of a mount fuji tour or a hakone onsen experience. The station primarily serves the commuters living in Odawara and working in the Greater Tokyo area and also the tourists going and coming from the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Inside the station area are various shops, restaurants, souvenir shops, coffee houses and bookstores. the most busy area is the Shinkansen area (Bullet train) that goes to tokyo in 30 minutes or less.

the most convenient way to the mount fuji-hakone-izu national park for a day tour is VIA tour buses since this is included in the package hehehe. the day trip to mount fuji has 2 packages, either getting the tour bus going to the fuji day tour and again the tour bus going back to tokyo or the other option which we took of which is the tour bus going to fuji day tour and the shinkansen bullet train going back to tokyo.

the most famous company to get a mount fuji day tour is:

    HATO BUS CO., LTD.
World Trade Center Building 2-4-1 Hamamatsucho, Minato-ku Tokyo 105-6101, Japan

again this is the other ropeway in the lake ashi area since there are 2 ropeways here, the other one is the hakone ropeway which goes to owakudani while this ropeway goes to top of mount komagatake, a 5,00 foot mountain, a mount fuji tour includes either this ropeway or the other but never both! This Ropeway is the aerial lift that rises from Hakone at the edge of Lake Ashi (Hakone) to the summit of Mount Komagatake and the ride goes for 7 minutes each way. On a clear day, there are excellent views of Lake Ashi from the summit of Mount Komagatake. From the summit you can also access part of the Hakone Jinja Shrine.

one of two cable car systems in the lake ashi area, this one goes to owakudani (big hell) valley and the other is mount komagatake ropeway that goes to mount komagatake, a mount fuji day tour includes either this ropeway or the other one but never both! my pervious mount fuji trip 25 years ago was using this ropeway (can't find my old analog pictures) and this recent tour is at the other (mount komagatake ropeway). The Hakone Ropeway service operates at approximately one-minute intervals, and the 30-minute journey from Sounzan Station to Togendai Station, which nestles on the shore of Lake Ashi, allows visitors to take in such spectacular views as the crystal-clear blue waters of Lake Ashi, the rising volcanic fumes of Owakudani and the grandeur of Mount Fuji.

    what ever you choose

Whatever you choose you wont regret it. I usually travel by car ...Going to izu this time ..I took the ferry from Shimizu then drove all the way to Shimoda ....

But for those who can not drive the train is more convenient..from TOKYO get to Atami, the main entry to Izu Peninsula, which is reached in less than an hour via a 'Shinkansen' ride.

The 62 kilometers between Atami and Izukyu-shimoda station provides great vistas of the blue Pacific Ocean .. Special trains recommended for the trip are the 'Superview Odoriko' featuring observation cars and the 'Izukyu Resort 21' .

Izu is conveniently located between Tokyo and Kyoto, you can stop over for a side trip to enjoy Izu's many attractions.
