    Fukuoka is a beautiful city, and I mean this in the sense that somebody planned for it to be beautiful. If you have a chance, just go for a walk in one of the business districts. Most business areas that I have seen in my life generally don't have any eye-catching characteristics. Mostly, they consist of skyscrapers, parking lots and a few stratigically placed trees. In Fukuoka, there were many great places to go for a walk. I walked around near the Fukuoka Dome, and there were many green areas and parks. The sidewalks were wide, clean and lined with trees. It was fantastic.

    One of my favorite things about Fukuoka was shaking hands with several stars at the Fukuoka Dome. Whenever somebody famous visits Fukuoka, they have a cast of their hand made, and they mount it outside of the Dome. There must have been over 50 hands, mostly Japanese stars, but their were several notable Western hands their, including Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney and Simon & Garfunkel. You can shake hands with all of them!
