    Kaiwo Maru is a voyage training ship of the Ministry of Education.
    It was launched in 1930, and was loved as "a marine lady" over the half-century.

    This photo was taken when Kaiwon Maru arrived at Moji port.

    Kyushu Railway History Museum, is a theme park of the railway which shows a history of Kyushu railway, is located in Moji district Kitakyushu.

    The Kanmon Tunnel pedestrian is a walk way made under the Kanmon Strait between Moji and Shimonoseki, you can also go to Shimonoseki from Moji on foot across underground of the Kanmon Strait.

    The Kyushu railway (present JR Kyusyu) was opened for traffic from Mojiko Station to the Takase Station in 1891.

    This is opening of the railway in Kyushu and Mojiko greatly prospered as a gateway to Kyushu region after that.

    Mojikou station is a beautiful station of a Renaissance style which referred to the Termini station in Italy and was built in 1914, and is designated as the important cultural property of the country.

    Itouzunomori Park, is a park, in which many animals can be seen, and is located in Kitakyusyu-city in Fukuoka-ken.

    In a park, 100 kinds of animals including elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys and flamingos can be seen.

    There are also the play institutions, such as the Ferris wheel, the merry-go-round, and the roller coaster.

    The Kanmon Bridge, linking Moji in Kyushu and Shimonoseki in Honshu, standingn 61 meters and measuring 1068 meteres in length.

    From the Mekari Park observation platform on the Kyushu side, you can see many ship going under Kanmon Bridge and through the Kanmon Strait.

    Mojiko Retro observatory, is established in the 31st floor portion of the high rise apartment "Retro Hi-Mart".

    The Mojiko Retro district, the Kanmon Strait as well as Shimonoseki area can be seen from the 103m high observatory.
    It can use till 10h00 pm, and around from 8h00 pm, lighting is dropped and it becomes a romantic date spot.

    Kitakyusyu Art Museum, is located on the hill of the boundary of Tobata-ku and Yahata-higashi-ku in Kitakyusyu-city, was built in 1974.

    Also in Kokura Minami this waterfall has a little temple nearby.

    In summer it is possible to bathe in the cool water. You can get here by Nishitetsu bus but by personal car would be best.

    Here is a pic of the view from Mt Sarakura during the daytime. As you can see Kitakyushu is a sprawling city. You can see Space World in the foreground and the Wakato Bridge which connects Wakamatsu-Ku with Tobata-Ku. In the distance you may be able to make out Honshu.
